Conrad Buff has a thing or two to say about painting. He arrived there in the vocabularizing state having hatched up paintings of the Old West like the one in Barnum Hall that shows at a dizzying height on one hundred fifty square feet of canvas covered wagons being hauled up or down cliff walls in the painted desert. There is the purer truth beyond all the fervent Impressionists by virtue of solidifying the gains made, a California Post-Impressionist who at times (I feel) had to close his eyes to put exactly what he saw on the canvas
