Love on the ground

the other night's wind knocked down Love
in the arcanest part of the park
smiling and bending his bow for spite
whose aspect made us dream a day once
the other night's wind felled him the marble
spins in the morning wind it's sad
to see the pedestal where the artist's name
is hard to read in a tree's shade
o sad to see the pedestal there
alone dark thoughts come
and go in my mind where deep sorrow
evokes a lonely mortal future
o sad and you why not are touched
by such a sad picture while you glance
delighted at a golden purple butterfly
above the debris strewn on the path
