à la promenade

the spindly sky and wan trees
seemingly smile on our bright stuffs
swimming with the breezes of
nonchalance wingéd
rippling the bare pond
and the sunspark easing
the avenue's lime shadow
blue and dying purposefully looks
deceivers and coquettes bold and enticing
tender hearts let out of Sunday School
we hold delicious parley
and lover strums loved
whose hands sometimes imperceptibly
give a buffeting you trade
for a kiss on the wee bone of the
little finger and that's so wildly
out of bounds to the nth degree
you get a dry look indeed rebuking
which contrasts nonetheless with
a rather clement pout
