Journalism

• More than ten years as a freelance journalist, writing weekly Internet features, columns and business articles for Office.com; Digitrends.net; Workforce.com; and contributing columns; news stories and features to print publications such as: The San Francisco Examiner; The San Diego Union-Tribune; Wine Enthusiast Magazine; San Diego Metropolitan Magazine; Antique & Collectables Newsmagazine and The Old California Gazette, as well as seven community newspapers within the county of San Diego. (Some of these publications also have/had online versions of their publications, where my articles also appeared.)
• In May of 1999, launched a quirky-but-popular alternative online paper called The Twist, an award-winning combination of news, commentary and parody.
• Trade journal articles from Latino Builders Magazine to Catering Magazine
• Business writing, accounting and consulting for small business. Special ability to disseminate complex information into a palatable form that readers can understand and will read.

• Publisher's Assistant for Forum Publications: Included editing and layout of six community newspapers on a contract basis, to AP Style
• Regularly covered and wrote stories/edited (to AP style)/performed layout/sold ads for The Twist. 

• Former Webmaster and publisher of East County Online
• Designer and publisher various simple Web sites for clients, such as the Lemon Grove Historical Society, as well as my ever-evolving home page.

• Owner of Cirious Business since 1983 - Business plans; advertising/technical marketing materials; newsletters; brochures and instruction manuals are all part of what is offered as part of the services provided to small business clients.
• Instructional manuals and research on a contract basis for several companies.
   

• In-house training and promotional video script writing.

• Pacific Institute for Research & Evaluation - Facilitation of weekly classes through Personal Responsibility and Values Education and Training (PREVENT) to active duty Navy personnel and others in order to motivate life-style behaviors and attitudes involving the misuse of alcohol. The curriculum also includes such topics as nutrition; stress reduction; smoking cessation; STD education; peer/family violence and other abusive life-style behaviors which may impact fleet readiness.
