David Claridge collaborated with Rusty Egan and Steve Strange at Billy´s and Blitz but chose to move on as they became repetitive, so he started her own night at Ledgends. Unfortunatly the idea was ripped by supposed old friend Steve Strange. ´´I had mad the classic mistake of trusting him, telling him all my plans. I had booked the club and hoped to open it after a 3 month trip to Thailand and theEast. In my absence he went down there and opened a night himself. So David opened The Wall club ´´Tired of popular music by bands by such as Visage, I fell in love with now music from the East, that exciting and fresh-not discoverd, destroyed. Bands to include: Do, Mastoshi and Sandii. I´ve coupled that music with Oriental imagery ranging from Chinas Cultural Revolutionary Period to Japanese Kabuki, Bunraku even Thaifishermenswer and Cantonese Opera. The looks especially Maos, are in direct conflict with the archaic New Romantic and Glam scene that is such old hat, Londons orignal thinkers were into all that years ago. David organises The Great Wall with his good friend Billy James. Davids also working on a fashion show that incorperates The Great Walls character and that project will be presented in Stockholm and Tokyo. WALL CLUB / DAVID CLARIDGE MENU pics by Peter Ashworth |
