Siegle-led Mobiline completes lineup. Mobiline yesterday became the first team to announce its complete lineup for the All-Filipino Conference of the Philippine Basketball Association which reels off Feb. 16. The Cellulars made a big splash in the basketball scene by acquiring a new coach, a Fil-American with big credentials and an expensive guard from Alaska. Andrew Siegle, who was scouted by Mobiline team consultant Tommy Manotoc in the United States, will lead the Cellulars' campaign along with Jeffrey Cariaso who was lured from Alaska with a whopping P14.4 million contract. The team will be coached by Norman Black who, until recently, was mentor of San Miguel Beer which under him won nine championships including a grand slam. Besides Seigle and Cariaso, the other members of the team are Joseph Santiago, Yoyoy Villamin, Al Solis, Alvin Teng, Joey Sta. Maria, Richard del Rosario, Peter Martin and rookies Lowell Briones and Antonio Espinosa. On the reserve list are free agents Patrick Fran and Jun Paguinto. However, one of these players may be dropped with the possible transfer of San Miguel guard Franz Pumaren. Former Beerman Tonichi Yturri will serve as Norman Black's assistant together with Fritz Gaston. Leo Isaac who last played for Ginebra will be the team's scout.
"He'll (Isaac) help us know who are available for next year's
draft and who are the free agents in the pool," Black said. "So
he'd be visible in all the collegiate leagues and in the PBL." -Noel
