Descendants of Peter Rawlings
Generation No. 1
1. PETER1 RAWLINGS was born Bef. 1683.
Notes for PETER RAWLINGS:
Listed on 1704 Rent Rolls of King & Queen Co VA.
Not sure about these children, but Jeremiah seems reasonable. Caroline Co was formed from K&Q Co and Jeremiah named his son Peter. Also both "son" Peter and "son" Jeremiah named one son Albin, the only two I have found. Also Felix Earle Luck sent me this from the Parish Register of Christ Church, Middlesex Co., VA: "Under 1682 is: '40 Jeremiah ye son of Peter and Eliza Rawlings of New Kent County baptized p. Mr Pead 67u of Aprill 1690'
Children of PETER RAWLINGS are:
2. i. J
EREMIAH2 RAWLINGS, b. Bef. 1711; d. Bet. May 10, 1804 - May 13, 1806, Caroline Co., VA.3. ii. P

Generation No. 2
2. JEREMIAH2 RAWLINGS (PETER1) was born Bef. 1711, and died Bet. May 10, 1804 - May 13, 1806 in Caroline Co., VA.
Notes for JEREMIAH RAWLINGS:
I would guess this Jerimiah is the son of Peter that appeared on the 1704 tax rolls for King and Queen Co from which Caroline Co was formed.
On VA Tax Payers List 1782-1787 from Caroline Co (possibly it is his son, but not likely). There is also a John and a Samuel on the list from Caroline Co.

Legislative Papers
Removed 1801 - Richard Rawlings to King George Co.
Likely the Richard who died in King George Co in 1803. He had a son Samuel so that might also explain the Samuel above.
Slaves - Archibauld Branscom, Mrs. Eliza Rollins and Miss Elizabeth Ciff all have slaves about 89 years old who should not be taxed. 10 July 1833.
A guess is that Jeremiah had a first family in the 1730s that may have included sons Richard and John and Richard had Samuel and perhaps John had Marshall.

Does anyone know of this family, originating in VA from Henry Rawlings, b. 1767, md. Lucy (b. 1776 in VA?). Perhaps his 3 sons were James B. b. 1794 in VA and md. Kizziah Blanks, b. 1804 in either Alabama or MS. And James E. Rawlings, b. 1817 in VA, md (1) Sarah E. b. 1828 in AL, and (2) Lucinda Nichols, b. 1842 in MS. And Wm R or H. b. 1812 in VA, md Ellen, b. 1822 in Al. No further info on Wm. James B's children were Wm, Elizabeth, Franklin, George, Jefferson, Hinchey, Martha, Susan V. and Emmy, all b between 1826 and 1846 in either MS or AL. James E.'s children by his first wife were Nancy E., Hartwell, Jesse I., James B. James E's children by his 2nd wife were Wm, Aarah and Susan. Some of these families moved to TX. Any info would be appreciated.

Jeremiah Rawlings died, and Henry Rawlings was his executor with William Guy as security. William Guy has now died and his widow, Frances Guy, and his son, Henry Guy, are suing Henry Rawlings to prevent him from moving out of the state before Jeremiah Rawlings' estate is setled.

Testimony: Dec 14, 1832, Bedford Col, TN. Mrs Jamina Light, aged 58 next 28 Nov, states she was born in Louisa Co., Va and raised in Caroline Co., VA. She has heard her uncles, Walter and John Brame, state that William Rawlins served with them in the Revolutionary War.
Rev. Melchizedick Brame, aged 60 next April 20, states he was born and raised in Caroline Co, VA. He has often heard his father and his uncles Walter and John Brame state they served in the same company as Rawlins. He has also heard Paul Carrington, Jr., a judge of the VA District Court, refer to William RAWLINS' service.
Jan 16, 1833, Franklin Co, Tn.
William Rawlins states he was born in Caroline Co, VA, according to the record his father kept in a large family bible. He entered the service under Capt. Joseph Richerson of the Caroline Co militia just after turning 16. About March 1, 1781, he was appointed 2nd Sergeant in Capt Charles Woodfolk's company of militia, and participated in the evacuation of Richmond after the British took Manchester and burned the public warehouses and tobacco. He submits the testimony of Rev. Melchizendick Brame and his sister, Mrs. Jaminm Light.
He lived in Caroline Co until the age of 39, and about 1803 moved to Halifax Co., VA where he lived in Meadsville and at the Court House for five years. In 1808 he removed to Pittsylvania Court House, VA, for eight years. He then removed to Danville, VA, for two years. After that he resided in RAWLINSBURG, Rockingham Co., VA. From there he moved to TN and has resided in Franklin Co for about ten years.
Frances Rawlins states she will be 62 years old next Sept. 20. She was born in King William Co., VA, where she lived until age 12. Her father, Capt. Giles Rains, then moved to Caroline County, VA, in the area where William Rawlins then lived. She has often heard her husband George Rawlins say that he and William Rawlins served together under Col. Matthews.
