Star Trek Deep Space Nine

Jeffrey Combs, who in 1986 had auditioned in vain for the role of Will Riker in Star Trek - The Next Generation, got a second chance in 1994 to gain a foothold in the Star Trek universe. With the intervention of his colleague Jonathan Frakes, he was cast as the alien "Tiron" in the "Deep Space Nine" episode "Meridian". Although he was covered with thick layers of make-up, he was able to leave a good impression of his acting talent. Shortly afterwards, Rene Auberjonois (Odo) recommended him for the role of the Ferengi "Brunt" in the Episode "Family Business" and could eliminate the doubts of the producers ("No, we just used him" - "He's really good. I know he can do it."). Later Jeffrey Combs was offered a role where he could show more of his face and his talent: As "Weyoun" he portays the treacherous ambassador of the Dominion, who gave the DS9 Crew and the Cardassians a bad time. In this role he has found a lot of fans - which is proved by active fanclubs, numerous works of fanfiction and webpages like this one...
