~The Unification Church , formally known as "The Holy Spirit Association For The Unification Of World Christianity" was founded by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon in Korea in 1954. ~The foundational doctrines of the Moonies are easy enough. Sun Myung Moon comes as the second advent of Jesus Christ to fulfill what he claims is Jesus' uncompleted mission of 2000 years ago. Moon claims he got the call at 16 years of age in Korea from God on a mountain side while deep in prayer. It is Moon's testimony that he did not accept the call initially realising the great responsibility and importance of such a request. Through contact with the good spiritual world, including Jesus Christ and the Saints, Moon learned the deep mysteries of the Bible, encompassing the mission of the Messiah, the original sin, how God has worked through history to prepare the world to receive the Messiah. He understood that Jesus was not priginally intended to die but this was a "second option" that was required due to the lack of faith of the Jewish people to receive their Messiah. After many great spiritual battles with satan, Moon achieved perfection and became one with God, qualifying him to be Jesus replacement.

~Moon's theology is somewhat unique in that he claims the Messiah is to consist not only of male, but also of female. Adam and Eve as God's children should have perfected themselves and only then as a perfect reflection of God's totality of masculine and feminine should they have had children, which would have been born free of Original Sin, thereby producing a world populated with sinless people, The Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.Because of Adam and Eve's sin however, this became impossible and God had to wait thousands of years until He could build a foundation for the Messiah, which in Moon's theology is actually the restoration of Adam and Eve, or True Parents which achieve what Adam and Eve could not. Namely a sinless man and woman that can produce children without original sin.

~Though evasive on the issue early in his ministry, Moon has made a public Proclamation Of The Messiah on numerous occassions during speaking tours throughout the world where he gives a condensed version of his philosophy. Because Moon's philosophies are alleged to be based on the Bible, I have constructed a critique of Moon's claims and explain clearly Why Moon Cannot Be The Messiah using the Bible as a guide as well as holding Moon up against his own teachings to see if he has even remained consistent with his own doctrines. I have made some interesting discoveries and recommend it to anyone interested in a Critical Investigation of Moon's Teachings.

~Above, I have summarised Moon's basic premise. The Holy Book of the Unification Church is called The Divine Principle (DP). No author is given credit in the book itself, but it is widely accepted in the Unification Church that the author was Hyon Won Eu who was the First President of The Unification Church in Korea. It is claimed that Rev. Moon checked over every detail of the work to insure it's accuracy. That information is welcome as it prevents members from blaming it's author when the work is criticized by people like myself. In confronting members with the DP's inconsistencies. I have been told many times that "The English translation is bad", as an excuse for it's lapses in logic. Additionally it becomes clear that the Messianic methodology has not been followed as outlined in the DP, and that in fact
Moon Broke His Own Principles

~The three blessings, are the corner stone of Unification Church (UC) doctrine. Very briefly the three blessings find their origin in Gen. 1:28 in the Bible where God gives a number of blessings to man in the Garden of Eden. Moon has condensed the blessings into three (Fruitful, Multiply and Have Dominion) which he says is the formula God gave for establishing the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth. The First Blessing"Be Fruitful" is the perfection of man's individuality, making him one with God, not in need of prayer or faith, unable to commit sin, and as the DP says: A living deity. In short, Christ was such a man and in Moon's theology, all people are originally created with the potential to achieve the same status as Jesus Christ had as the Son of God. Both men and women are capable of achieving deity, and once they do, they can go on to The Second Blessing."...and Multiply".Being "Blessed" in marriage by God, this perfect couple would be married by God and produce children without original sin, creating a sinless society on Earth. After this is man's "Third Blessing" which is to expand that foundation by caring for the creation. According to DP, only after perfecting himself and creating families without original sin is man then qualified to become goods stewards of Earth or "Lord's of Creation" which Moon says all people are to become.

~Moon and his wife as The True Parents (Messiah) are uniquely qualified to give the second blessing (Marriage) to whoever they deem fit. In Unification Theology , you cannot enter Heaven without receiving the blessing (marriage). Even Jesus Christ according to Moon did not go to Heaven because he was killed Moon says before He could marry and become The True Parents Himself. What is not very well known by non-members is that Moon actually had a marriage ceremony for Jesus Christ. Moon married Jesus to an oriental woman who lives on the Earth as Jesus' wife. More of these types of heretical and just plain "strange" teachings and practices of Moon's church are detailed in my Insider-Secret Doctrines of The Unification Church. Moon has also empowered certain of his disciples now to perform the Blessing as well. He has also been grooming his wife apparently to take over the reigns for when he dies. Moon's son seemed to be the heir apparent until his recent divorce and public airing of his dirty laundry. His now ex-wife has accused him of adultery, physical and mental abuse, pornograohy addiction and a drug habbit which he himself admits to. He has been to the Betty Ford clinic for treatment and apparently was kicked out of the program at least once for refusing to follow the orders of doctors there.

~Interestingly, in the past, Moon has said that his family (called the True Family) was the example that the entire world had to follow as God's standard. Needless to say the activities of his son Hyo Jin Moon, as well as several other of his children have been a source of great embarrassment for Moon and his church. It is well known now, that Moon professes to be the Messiah. What is not as well known is that Moon has started a project called "Tribal Messiahship" and "National messiahship" whereby hundreds more of his followers are empowered to perform the Blessing as well. Though they carry the title Messiah, it is quite clear that Moon remains in full control of his church and all his little messiahs as well. I have attempted here to cover the fundamental points of Moon's theology. The Divine Principle book is over 500 pages in length. Additionally when you realise that Moon's speeches (thousands of volumes, all recorded over a lifetime) are considered Holy Doctrine as well, it is clear that Moon's is much too large a belief system to detail in full here. I have presented the fundamentals. This , I feel is sufficient, as I have found enormous contradiction and error in even these basic doctrines upon which the entire philosophy rests.
