Occultic Practices Of The Moonies

Moonies During Religious Holy-Day

What is The Occult?

~The word Occult means different things to different people. At it's root, Occult simply means "Secret", "Hidden", "Concealed". It is a term that covers diverse practices including Astrology, Divination, Spiritualism, Witchcraft, Satanism, as well as so-called ancient wisdom groups such as ECKANKAR, Theosophy, Rosicrucianism, UFO cults and the New Age Movement. At the root of all of it is Gnosticism: "The desire to find 'hidden' knowledge supposedly not available to the average individual, and to use such knowledge for controlling life, and lives."

Occultic Practices of Moonies

~I discovered, after reading some books on the occult and it's origins that the Unification Church has much more in common with the Occult, than it ever has had with Christianity. Further information on why the Unification Church cannot be considered Christian can be found in "Are Moonies Christians?", an article I have written which addresses that issue. The Unification Church is much more properly classified as Occultic than it is as Christian. The Divine Priciple (Unification Church Holy Book) claims that Moon's teachings synthesises Christian tradition with Oriental philosophy, and to an extent that is correct. Unificationism is certainly a smorgasborg of religious and philosophic thought, encompassing a wide array of ideals and beliefs, but that is without considering the "inside" practices of the cult. The public image that Unificationists attempt to portray is harshly different than the internal reality of day to day activities and beliefs. More on this is explained in my article: "Insider-Secret Beliefs of The Unification Church". The various ceremonies, most held in private, are absolutely Occultic in nature. I will address a few of these and offer condensed explanations of their purposes.

Rituals and Ceremonies

~Sun Myung Moon is an avid believer in psychics. He visits them often and accepts their advice according to reports that I have heard as well as others who have left the group and reported these things. Nan Sook Hong , who recently divorced Moon's eldest son Hyo Jin, told a Boston Globe reporter that she was chosen to be Hyo Jin's wife (at 15 years old) by a psychic in Korea who Moon had sought out. I found this information hilarious, as I was told as a member that Moon was the best qualified in history to choose marriage partners for his followers. When it comes to his son however, Moon takes no chances and only goes to the best psychics for advice. Moon himself tells his followers that no one knows the Spiritual World better than he does, and yet here he is going to a non-member for advice on choosing a wife for his son!

~Additionally Moon has consulted psychics on such issues as "The Best Burial Grounds" for his family, and encourages his own members to "Ask The Most Famous Psychics" if they have any doubt that he is the Messiah. Moon has a long history with psychics and in fact several have testified that he is a "great teacher" that has come to the world. This type of information generally excites members who hear such things. Often I will tell them "I'm so sorry that you have seen fit to have more faith in "Psychics for Hire" than in God's Word The Bible." When I show them admonitions from Jesus Christ about the days we are living in and His warning about people like Moon who will come as deceivers to mislead people, it means absolutely nothing to them. When shown how the Bible states very clearly that believers in God are NOT to consult psychics or the dead for advice, they are sure that the Bible must be referring to someone else! But let someone say that a "Famous Psychic" said something and they become "all ears". They are putting their trust in limited humans rather than a limitless God. Interestingly, these "Famous" psychics never become members and never get "blessed" (Moon's mass marriages) by Moon who teaches that it is required to go to Heaven. Hmm...so much for "Famous Psychics".

~Moon is a highly superstitious person. I have speeches in my possesion where he has spoken of being concerned that his ex-wife was going to leave a curse on him when he died. Such men are not men of God, but superstitious charlatans trusting in magic and mirrors and not the living God that casts aside all fears and doubts. Besides psychics, members practice occultic arts such as "Divination" where the dead is called up in seance like settings. And Liberation Ceremonies where adherents are taken through various rites and conditions are made to free an individual from his "bad" ancestors pull on his life. Members independently seek out all other types of occultic rituals and exercises, apparently with Moon's blessings, as he himself is more than an occassional dabbler in the Mystery Arts The reality is that without a personal relationship with God, people will resort to the most absurd practices and beliefs for hope or for answers, when God is there waiting all the time for them to simply ask Him.

Holy Wine

~Members when they are married, are given a vial of dark red liquid to drink containing Holy Wine. It is taught that Moon's and his wife's literal, physical blood is mixed in the wine and members who drink it are magically switched from satan's blood lineage to God's blood lineage. Members will often publicly deny that Moon's blood is in the wine, but they know as well as I do that this is what is taught by the leaders. In the "40 Day Training" in New York, I was instructed that Moon's physical blood was drawn and put into the wine. We were also told that there were reserves of his blood for future religious rites for after his death. That is a pagan practice and has no basis in true Christian life. Observerance of "Communion" in the Christian tradition cannot be compared to this, because Christians realise that the observance is symbolic "in remembrance" of Jesus, whereas the Moonies teach that Moon's literal, physical blood is in the wine. That is occultic.

Three Day Ceremony

~Another deviant and Occultic practice in The Unification Church is The Three Day Ceremony In this ceremony which is sexual in nature. A husband and wife, in their first sexual encounters after marriage are instructed to have sexual relations on three consecutive nights, whether they want to or not. They are even told which positions to use for sex each of the nights. Even in something so intimate as sexual marital relations, Moon has found a way to be intertwined with the lives of his servants. Along with the sexual rites are Cleansing Rites in which Moon's followers are given a "Holy Hankerchief". They are only given one to keep for their entire lives. If they lose it, they will not receive another one. The "Holy Hankerchief" is splashed with Holy Wine before it is given to the members to use for the Three Day Ceremony. And as I said previously, the Holy Wine contains Moon's blood. So now, besides drinking Moon's blood, in the form of Holy Wine, they will also bathe in Moon's blood, as the purpose of the Holy Hankerchief is to wash with it to purify themselves sexually. They must wash seven times before sex, on three consecutive days, which would be a total of 21 washings in 3 days! There are many other rites and rituals including the use of Holy Salt which is claimed to have the power of redeeming things that are salted with it from satan's side to God's side. When Moonies purchase things, are given gifts or bring anything inside their home for the first time, they have to sprinkle it with this salt, and say a prayer, because everything that Moon and his Mortons hasn't purified is evil and satanic. There is an intricate recipe for the production of the salt and multiplying of it to give to others. It is only for members use and not for outsiders. "Secret", "Hidden" ... "Occultic". By the way, if there is no salt available, then the member can simply blow on the item three times with their holy-breath (my word for it :-). You may be asking: "So if you can just blow on things rather than go through the ordeal of making and multiplying this holy-salt, then why not just blow on everything, isn't that more convenient? Oh, boy. Please don't try and rationalise or use logic on the illogical Moonie practices. If Moon said it, then God said it. That's all you need to know. See how dangerous this lifestyle is?

Holy Grounds

~Moon has established throughout the world in each of the major cities, certain parcels of property called Holy Grounds These locations , as chosen by Moon are the places where the Spirit World meets Earth. Moon is said to have joined the Spiritual Realm with the Physical Realm in thses places and members are encouraged to go there for prayer and meditation and religious ceremonies. Behind all of this in my opinion is really Ancestor Worship. Koreans have a long history of this practice and Moon is no different. Ancestors are worshipped and offerings are made to them. They are encouraged to seek advice from them on some occassions and on others are told that they must help their ancestors grow in the Spiritual World. The Bible speaks against worshipping people, living or dead, and commands God's people not to visit "Diviners", those who call up the dead. Moon violates all these commandments, and encourages his followers to do the same, all the time professing that his teachings are based on Biblical Principles. It is one of the Moonie beliefs that they are working to re-unite the spiritual and physical worlds, and that Holy Grounds are places where these two worlds come together. You may ask: "Well, if they can just make a Holy Ground and accomplish this, then why not just have Moon pray, spread some Morton's Salt and make the whole UNIVERSE a Holy Ground?" Boy, what did I tell you before? Are you getting logical again? The point behind these rituals is "occultism". It is only the "member" who knows these "hidden truths" and therefore Moon controls them using his revealing "truth" as an impetus. See? Members assume that they must stay if they want to get even more of the "secret truth" that even their own mothers and fathers haven't discovered yet. It is all control.

IDOLATRY

Idolatrous Practices Of The Moonies ~A religious practice which God has absolutely no patience for and Moonies practice unashamedly, or perhaps unknowingly, is Idolatry. There are many Idolatrous practices in the UC and I will discuss two of them. The first is worshipping Moon. Members are encouraged twice a day (morning and night) to go to an alter they have prepared in their homes, upon which Moon and His Wife's pictures rest. They are to recite a Pledge of obedience to The True Parents (Moon and his Wife) and to the Fatherland which is Korea, regardless of which country the member is a citizen of, and then they are to face the picture of Moon and bow to it three times. Three full bows , touching your face to the ground. Bowing to statues (even of Jesus) or to pictures, is idolatry and absolutely prohibited in the Bible for Christian and Jew alike.

~The Second practice is The Offering Table. During certain Holy Days (Moon's birthday is considered one) members are to erect Offering Tables adorned with fruit and candy (you can guess that children like this ceremony, Idolatrous or not ! :-). They are then to have prayers and cut a cake in a certain way according to Moon's Tradition. Plates are first prepared for Moon and his wife (even if they are not present) and "offered" to them in front of two "Thrones" which represent Moon and his wife. You can see an example of this pagan practice in the picture above. Notice the two "empty" chairs, as if Moon and his wife were really there, and the picture of Moon and his wife, which the members will bow down to. Members are also encouraged to carry a picture of Moon and his wife for "Spiritual Protection" wherever they go. When members are blessed they also get (I may have forgotten what it is exactly) I believe undergarments for their sexual ceremony and they are supposed to wear them wherever they go and whatever they dress in over them. So when talking to a Moonie, though he looks "normal" on the outside, he is wearing the same underclothes for the last 20 years! It is just another way for Moon to be in the day to day activities of his followers so that he is completely dominating them whether he is physically there or not. Many of these activities are Pagan and Occultic in nature and a Christian should have nothing to do with them. Bowing to Moon's picture is no different than the mistake of Moses followers bowing to a Golden Calf. God prohibited and judged them for this satanic practice, He will do no less for the modern day Idolaters.
