About Witchcraft

Now for the other reason I created this page, To help stop the misconceptions about Witchcraft. If you are not a pagan you probably think ''witch" and "devil-worshipper" are the same thing and that they should all be stamped out of existence. (Or that we already have been) Here's what the dictionary says about Wicca (a slightly more specialized form of witchcraft but essentially the same) - "Witchcraft, esp. benevolent nature-oriented practices derived from pre-christian religions." And no benevolent doesn't mean evil or blood-sacrificing, it means kind and gentle, or nice. The main beliefs of Wicca are that all religions believe in the same higher force, but we just call it different things. Most witches see that force as being split into a God and a Goddess. Sometimes we have specific names for them like Diana or Cerunnos, but not all the time. We also believe in magick. (Spelled with a "k" to distinguish from stage magic) Magick is energy and the gentle bending of it to do our will. That leads to another topic, the only rule we really have, "An' it harm none, Do what ye will" which means that you can do whatever you want as long as it doesn't hurt anyone. This also includes manipulative magick, or using energy to make others do things they would not normally do. The other essential part of our beliefs are that there is no such thing as the "devil" or "hell" we don't believe in retaliation for "sins." If we do something good or something bad it will be reflected back to us three times. This is sometimes called "Karma." we are all responsible for our own actions, but we must realize what is going to get us hurt, not have a book tell us. "Thou only gets what thou dost earn" is another way of saying it. This is in no way a complete run down of all the wicca/witchcraft beliefs.
