Make a closet freshener as a Father's Day Gift.
1. From felt, cut out six ducks, all the same size.
2. With an adult's help, break a bar of soap into pieces.
3. Place a few soap pieces on one felt duck. Squeeze tacky
graft glue around it's edges, and place another duck on top.
4. Repeat step three twice. You'll end up with three ducks
with soap pieces inside.
5. Cut out wings and eyes from felt. Use yarn to make letters
that spell DAD. Glue them on the ducks.
6. Poke a hole in the top of each duck's body. String the
ducks together with a length of yarn, knotting the yarn at
each hole.

A butterfly barrette to match any outfit.
1. Select a barrette that's flat on top.
2. Fold a piece of felt in half. Starting at the fold, draw
half of a butterfly. The length of your butterfly along the
fold should be at least as long as the barrette.
3. Leaving the felt folded. cut along the line you drew. Open
the butterfly.
4. Cut out details from felt. Glue them on the butterfly,
using tacky craft glue. Let the glue dry.
5. Open the barrette, and glue the butterfly on top of it.
Cut out a square of felt, and glue it to the underside of the
barrette, as shown.

Turn any room into a ship's cabin with
this porthole craft.

1. For the porthole, use a round plastic lid from a takeout
container or a plastic top from a ready-made pie crust.
2. From construction paper, cut out a ship, water, and other
details to make a scene that fits in the porthole. Glue the
scene together, but don't glue it in the porthole yet.
3. Add a few dots of tacky craft glue to the front of the
scene, and place it facedown on the inside of the porthole.
4. Measure a piece of rope to fit around the outside edge of
the porthole, or braid twine to make a rope. Glue it around
the outside ede, using tacky craft glue. Let it dry.
5. On the back of the porthole, use masking tape to add a
twine hanger.

Invisible valentines are fun to give or
receive.

1. Cut out a heart from white construction paper.
2. Use a white crayon to decorate the heart with designs and
a message. Press hard.
3. On the back, use a pen to write; "Brush the other side with
watercolors pink to find a secret message in invisible ink!"
4. Give the valentine to a friend. When he or she paints the
other side, the message will be revealed.

Recycle plastic bags to make a jump rope.
Collect eighteen plastic shopping bags for this craft. Always
keep plastic bags away from small children.
1. Smooth out three bags. Hold the three bottoms in one hand,
and wrap masking tape around them an ince or two from the end.
2. Sit down and hold the taped end with your feet, or ask
someone to hold it for you, and tightly braid the bags.
(See diagram.) Wrap tape near the ends of the braid. Trim both
ends.
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 five times so that you have six braids.
4. Join the braids into a long rope by overlapping the ends
and taping them together.

A triple surprise for your Valentine.
1. Use paper to decorate a small box.
2. Cut a 4-foot length of thin ribbon. Tie on a candy every
6 inches.
3. From paper, make a small heart and a cart that will fit in
the box. Write "Pull me" on the heart. Decorate the card and add
message.
4. Glue the card to one end of the candy rope. Glue the hearts
to the other. Let the glue dry.
5. Put the card in the box. and place the candy rope on top of
it. Roll a piece of tape, and use it to attach the heart to the
inside top of the box, as shown in picture. Close the box.
6. When your Valentine opens the box, he or shee will pull the
heart for a triple surprise. A candy rope, a card, and a pretty
box.

Use ice-cream sticks to make a hanging fish.
1. Paint ten ice-cream sticks, and let them dry.
2. Arrange eight sticks as shown in the diagram below. Glue them
in place. Let the glue dry.
3. Glue a stick along the center of the shape on both sides, and
add wiggle eyes. Let the glue dry.
4. For a hanger, tie a piece of yarn through the fish. If you
wish, make several fish and create a mobile.

A kitchen plaque that smells delicious.
1. Cut a 6-ince square from corrugated cardboard.
2. Ask an adult to help you break or cut cinnamon sticks to
glue around the edges of your plaque. Glue on smaller pieces
to divide the middle into sections.
3. Spread glue inside each section, and arrange spices, dried
beans, and seads on the glue. Whole cloves and dried orange-rind
pieces add a nice scent.
4. Glue yarn around the sides of the plaque. For a hanger, tape
or glue a piece of yarn to the back. Hang the plaque in your
kitchen, or give it as a gift.

Hang this message wheel on your doorknob.
1. Trace a large plastic lid twice onto construction paper. Cut
out both circles.
2. To make a hanger, glue a yarn loop near the edge of the lid.
Glue one of the paper circles on the lid, covering the yarn
ends.
3. Use a ruler and marker to divide the other circle into six
sections, as shown. Label each section with a different message.
Glue the circle to the other side of the lid. Let the glue dry.
4. Draw and cut out an arrow shape from poster board. Outline
the edges with a marker.
With an adult's help, poke a hole in the arrow through the
center. of the message wheel. Attach the arrow by putting a
brass fastener through the holes.
6. Glue yarn around the edges of the wheel.
