We Do Not Need A Special Day

We do not need a special day
To bring you to our minds
The days we do not think of you
Are very hard to find

Each morning when we awake
We know that you are gone
And no one knows the heartache
As we try to carry on

Our hearts still ache with sadness
And secret tears still flow
What it meant to lose you
No one will ever know

Our thoughts are always with you
Your place no one can fill
In life we loved you dearly
In death we love you still

There will always be a heartache
And often a silent tear
But always a precious memory
Of the days when you were here

If tears could build a staircase
And heartaches make a lane
We'd walk the path to Heaven
And bring you home again

We hold you close, within our hearts
And there you will remain
To walk with us throughout our lives
Until we meet again

Our family chain is broken now
And nothing seems the same
But as God calls us one by one
The chain will link again.

Memories of our Ashley

Let me tell you some more about Ashley. She was very vibrant.
I'm not exaggerating when I say, she walked into a room and it just lit up.
She was very smart, but really goofy and silly
(I'm afraid she got that from me).

Ashley clowning around with mom.

Gone are the days we used to share,
But in our hearts you are always there,
The gates of memory will never close,
We miss you more than anyone knows,
With tender love and deep regret,
We who love you will never forget.

Let it not be said my life was in vain,
I've just moved on to a higher plane.
So I can keep better watch over you,
As you move on like you need to do
Though this life has reached an end,
I'm waiting for you around the bend.
I beg you please don't weep for me!
It's not so bad for soon you'll see,
That I will linger long past this sunset,
In the hearts of you who love me yet.

Ashley flying high!

Ashley was athletic, and her favorite thing when she died was cheerleading.
She was great at it (she did NOT get that from me).
Her team's colors were blue and gold.

Ashley also loved horseback riding and talking on the phone
(she had her own cell phone she paid for with her money).
She liked Eeyore, but not enough to make it a whole theme or anything -
maybe just one graphic of him. And, unfortunately, she was boy crazy.
Of course, they were more crazy about her than she was with them.

These are two beautiful and loving gifts for Angel Ashley from my dear friend, Carol, mom to Angel Michael.

The Broken Chain

We did not know that morning that God was going to call your name.
In life we loved you dearly, in death the same.
It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone,
for part of us went with you the day God called you home
You left us peaceful memories, your love is still our guide,
and though we cannot see you, you are always by our side.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same,
but as GOD calls us one by one, the CHAIN will link again.

Ashley spent her last day on this earth doing what she loved best- playing with babies (in her llittle brothers playgroup) and talking on the phone. For lunch she picked the place to eat, so of course we ate at Pizza Hut. She talked on her cell phone the entire time and I teased her about all the people she loved and who loved her.

On the way home it started to rain. As the rain got harder I slowed to a crawl on the interstate, but it wasn't enough. We hydroplaned and the car slid off the road into some trees. Ashley's baby brother and I were fine, but Ashley was killed instantly.

Though we hurt beyond words from losing her, we are comforted that she felt (and feels) no pain, and that she is in a much better place, waiting for the rest of us. Had she lived, she wouldn't have been our Ashley anymore, and she wouldn't have been happy. It's only our own selfishness that wishes her back to this imperfect world, instead of the perfect one she lives in now. Someday we will be reunited, and the wait will seem like such a short time compared to the eternity we will share together!

"...with your final heartbeat, kiss the world goodbye
and go in peace and laugh on glory's side
and fly to Jesus, fly to Jesus,
fly to Jesus and live"----
Chris Rice 'Untitled Hymn'

You are the winds that blow,
You are the diamonds in the snow,
You are the sun that melts my pain,
You are the gently autumns rain.
You are the graceful bird in flight,
You are the stars that shine at night,
You were the heartbeat of my life,
I wish you weren't gone.but here instead.
We have you as an angel now.
Blessed by the peace you bring.
And although I cannot see you.
I can feel the brush of your wings.
You bring me light in darkness
And calmness in times of fear.
And hope lives in the knowing
That you are always near.

Therefore you now have sorrow;
but I will see you again
and your heart will rejoice,
and your joy no one will take from you.

Ashley ~
Although you were here for just a short while
and your mom is finding it so hard to smile
Her heart is shattered and just cannot mend
Please wait in heaven for her until then.

One of God's Own

Maybe some people just aren't meant to be in our lives forever.
Maybe some people are just passing through,
they just come through our lives to bring us something,
a gift, a blessing, a lesson we need to learn.
She gave you the gift, and then she was free to move on...
she was a special soul...You'll have that gift forever."

Dear Tracy
My ANGEL Lee wrote many poems, this one I would love to share with you.

CORE

Softness of the skin
Sweetness in the smell
Nectar of the fruit
Tender in the heart
Dancing in the eyes
Uplifting in the smile
Tickle of the touch
Joining in the love

Truth in the speech
Love in the laughter
Primal in the scream
Soft in the whisper
Quick in the mind
Fair in the sentence
Brave in the confrontation
Joining in the love

Graceful in the sleep
Careful in the search
Deep in the sorrow
Strength in the sickness
Giving of thy self
Rich in the health
Kind in the giving
Joining in the love
