HOW TO FLY THE AMERICAN FLY AND RESPECT IT. |
1. The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously 2. The flag must never touch the ground or the floor. 3. The flag is to never be drawn back, bunched up, or in folds, it is always to be allowed to fall free. 4. The flag should be displayed at half-mast until noon on Memorial Day, then raised to the top of the staff. 5 . Never fly the flag upside down except as a signal of distress in extreme danger to life or property. 6. The flag is never flow in inclement weather except when using an all- weather flag 7. The flag can be flown every day from sunrise to sunset and at night if properly illuminated 8. DO NOT use the flag as an articile of clothing. 9. DO NOT print images on disposable items such as napkins, tissues or boxes. 10. DO NOT drape the flag over a podium, table or other object 11. DO NOT use the flag for advertising. 12. TO RETIRE AN OLD WORN OUT FLAG WITH A DIGNIFIED CEREMONY; EITHER BURN OR BURY THE FLAG. There are a few more guidelines like this but I've listed only the ones that apply to everyday people who display the flag outside their home. Also, please respect what the flag stands for, It stands for freedom, unity, and a tribute to those who fought so this nation can be free and will remain free. |
