CODER FAMILY
I finally found my g-grandmother McCracken's parents.   According to the
1900 U.S. Census, PA.

Coder, William, born Dec. 1840, wife Annie, born July 1844, son Daniel, born 1881 son James born 1884, son-in-law Charley
McCracken, daughter Mary born 1876 age 23.
I started my search in 1999 and found what I needed in 2004. 
1870 Census, New Millport, Clearfield  county, Pennsylvania

CODER, John, age 30; Susan, age 27; William A., age 7; Mary C. age 5 and Julia J. age 2.
1890 Census, Knox township, New Millport, Clearfield county, PA.

CODER,  John E. - Buried in New Millport cemetery across from  church.  No dates on headstone.

CODER, William E., son of Annie e. Coder, died 11/12/1881, age 10, New Millport cemetery.
CODER, Elsie E. b-02/04/1894, d. 10/02/1979, wife of Dan Coder, b. 08/08/1903, d. 01/1964, buried in Crown Crest Memeorial Park, Clearfield county, PA.  Elsie was the dau. of Clement and Sara Rowles.    I was told Dan was my g-grandmother McCracken's brother.  Elsie and Dan ran a boarding house in Clearfield.
Dan and Elsie's daughter Vida M Coder b. 01/14/1917, d. 05/24/1967, buried in Crown Crest Memorial Park also.  Sons of Dan and Elsie, Lewis, b.02/15/1930, d. 11/23/2005 spouse living and Cloyd Codef
Elsie's maiden name was Rowles, she was the daughter of Clement Lowrey Vallingham Rowles, b. March 1864, Clearfield, PA and his wife Sarah Keturah Bauman, b. April 23, 1869 in Knox twp, Clearfield county.

Origin:   Ireland. The spelling variations are:  Cotter, Cotters, Cottar, Cottare, Cotteres, Cottares  etc.
First found in Oxfordshire in the year 1086, when William Cotter held estates in that county. 
Some of the first settlers of this name :  James Cotter, who settled in Bay De Verde, Newfoundland, in 1783;  John Cotter settled in Boston in 1764 with his wife Elizabeth.

Fred was the son of Jim and Pearl Coder and the nephew of Mary Catherine (Coder) McCracken
OBIT OF ERNEST V. CODER

Died Friday, July 3, 1987  in Clearfield age 74.  Born July 5, 1912 in Irvona, he was a son of James and Pearl (Smeal) Coder.
He was married to the former Catherine Sharp.  Father of two sons, James R. and Kenneth V. and three daughters:  Mrs. John (Pear) Russell; Mrs. Charles (Kay) Strishock and Mrs. Leo (Sylvia Knepp. Also, a surviving brother Woodrow and a sister Mrs. Samuel (Leah) Leonard.  He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Ernest; a daughter, Florence; five brothers; and three sisters.   Interment in Owens Cemetery, Clearfield.
