G & U Railroad and West Foundry Area - October 28, 2008 The picture at the top, showing the remains of the G & U station, was taken on October 23. By the 28th, the rubble had been removed and the area was being graded. Tracks and ties that had been near the station were being removed. In the bottom picture, you can see a pile of ties on the right. An employee working there told me that the engine house (the building with the two big doors) will be torn down and replaced. The track that runs to Upton and Grafton will be cleared and repaired, but evidently not toward Milford at this time. The pile near the West Foundry (green building) is of partitions and other materials being cleared out of the inside. Now and Then on Depot Street Now and Then at the G&U Station G & U History HOME |
