Upon becoming a member of the Hopedale Community in the 1840s and 1850s, it was necessary to sign a declaration stating, among many other things, that the signer would never hold office, vote, or petition a legislature.  This photo of the Women's Committee for Hoover shows that times had changed by the 1920s.  Was this picture taken before the election of 1928 or the election of 1932?  Perhaps an authority on fashion could answer that.  The woman at the center in the striped dress has been identified as Fanny (Draper) Osgood.                    Short Stories Menu                                                  HOME
