Bouncing Bet, also know as soapwort. I took these pictures on July 16, 2006, near the remains of the "road," now blocked, that used to run from Freedom Street, near the railroad crossing, to the dump and Draper Field area. There are several patches of Bets in the vicinity. According to the Audibon wildflower book, "This attractive, phlox-like perennial, introduced from Europe, spreads by underground stems and forms sizable colonies." Wildflower Menu Next HOME |
