St. Johnswort is a wildflower that's been in the news in the last several years as a cure for depression. This clump of it was photographed on Jones Road near the storage garages at the end of June. I've seen it growing in the Draper parking lot across the tracks from the highway barn and in quite a few other locations in town. It can be seen flowering from June until September. (Its name comes from the legend that it blooms on St. John's Eve, June 24.) The flowers are about an inch across. Wildflower menu NEXT HOME |
