PHANTOM OF THE OPERA was my first theater obsession. I wanted to see it so bad, but no one else really wanted to go, so I bought tickets for myself and a friend and we went. And I was hooked. I had seen plays before PHANTOM ~ THE ODD COUPLE with Jack Lemmon, THE KING AND I with Yul Brynner ~ but nothing took hold of me like PHANTOM. And DAVIS GAINES. The man's voice is incredible. He WAS the Phantom, in the same way that Doug was the Pimpernel, and James Barbour was the Beast.

And, finally, PHANTOM is coming back to L.A. in February 2009. Yes, we bought tickets. I so can't wait to see it again!!!!

One of my favorite scenes from Phantom

Phantoms I have seen: Davis Gaines, Grant Norman, Ron Bohmer, Rick Hilsabeck. Davis is my all-time fav

Curtain Call

At the stage door in L.A.

Another night at the stage door.
Davis was always very generous
about spending time with his fans,
posing for pictures and signing autographs, much like Doug Sills.

Grant was wonderful
in the Phantom.
Of all the ones
I've seen, he was
the most imposing physicallyl.

and invited him to lunch,
where we celebrated his birthday.
