Ever play a game that just makes you go "Damn ... that was cool."? Well, Metroid Prime is one of those games, however the aforementioned comment may be turned into "OMFG, d00d, that r0xx0red!" as you progress into MP's later levels.
Honestly, what can I say about this game that hasn't already been said everywhere else? This game is just an amazing First-Person-Shooter, but not only does it fit the FPS genre well, it's also a great Action/Adventure title.
I haven't spent too much time playing the other Metroid games in the series, and I get the unfortunate feeling that I may never play the older games in this lifetime (on the original systems; there's gotta be some emulators floating around somewhere), but from what I've heard this game lives up to the series' past.
MP is all about atmosphere. With the excellent graphics, and at times ambient music, Retro Studios have created not just a game, they've created an Experience. After playing this game in extended sittings, you may be suprised to find yourself walking around your house feeling vunerable without an arm cannon and feeling naked without a Varia Suit.
Metroid Prime is just a barrel of fun, a joy to behold and experience, and I can't wait for the next Mertroid title in the series for Gamecube (and trust me, folks, they're makin' one). I haven't had the chance to play Metroid Fusion for Game Boy Advance, but I've heard good things. Unfortunately, you'll have to beat both Prime and Fusion to access the unlockables via the Cube-Link function, but since Metroid is so fun, beating it will hardly seem like a chore.

Give it
****3/4. Can't go all the way, because, like so many other things, this is SPIFFY, but not PERFECT. There yah go, Scott Keith.
