What the Club of Rome's "The Limits to Growth" rightly saw was that resource depletion, pollution, population growth and food supply are interconnected and that population and economic growth would eventually, and sooner rather than later, be limited by some combination of those factors. Under one of their scenarios, food shortages were the limiting factor. Given that 1 billion people - one fifth of the world's people - are currently either starving or malnourished, who can say they were wrong? Jeanette Fitzsimons.
