As I have said in previous years, I am only one man, and can't see every film released in the year, and didn't see a lot this year anyway due to university, so here is what I thought of 2001.  If you have your own thoughts then email me at dave_or_did@yahoo.com, or post them on the guestbook.
Review of 2001
The Best
1. Lord of the Rings
2. Amelie
3. The Man Who Wasn't There
4. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
5. Moulin Rouge
6. Requiem for a Dream
7. Sexy Beast
8. Traffic
9. Best in Show
10. The Dish
Films I've been told are also the best, but I haven't seen, or weren't released in the UK last year
Amores Perros, Battle Royale, Audition, The Others, The Pledge, Bridget Jones' Diary, The Royal Tenenbaum, Mulholland Drive.
Plus, films just brimming under : Shrek, The Fast and the Furious, Almost Famous, A.I.
The Worst
1. The last 20 minutes of A.I. (terrible, terrible, terrible - Kubrick will be spinning in his grave)
2. Pearl Harbour (flag waving, vomit enducing, war-glorifying rubbish)
3. The Mummy Returns (slightly entertaining, but for all the wrong reasons)
4. Final Fantasy (I love the games, but the film had nothing in common with them)
5. American Pie 2 (liked the first one, but this didn't have the charm or the warmth)
6. Jay and Silent Bob.. (too purile, too much of a mess, but funny at times)
The Dissapointments (Where I expected more)
A.I. (I liked the first three quarters or so, but the ending... oh dear)
Almost Famous (far too slushy for a rock film, but not bad)
Shrek (again, I liked most of it, but it went all Disney by the end)
Final Fantasy (it could have been soooo good, but was rubbish)
Harry Potter.. (it was quite good, but way over-hyped)
