First we have to make 2 sets of TV lines. One vertical and one horizontal. Do this by opening a new image 10x2, transparent. Zoom in by 5 so you can see good. With your draw tool set at 1, filled draw a horizontal line
Minimize this-- we will use it later.
For the vertical image open a new image 2x10 and draw a vertical line just like the horizontal line, giving you what looks like this
Minimize this also, we will use it later.
Open a new image 400x400 transparent
Set your foreground color to #404040 and background color to white
Create a new layer
Using your selection tool, draw a large rectangle on your image
Using your paint bucket, click on your tool options and select "Linear Gradient" (Matchmode: None, Opacity:100). flood fill the rectangle with these settings:
Using the deformation tool, reshape the rectangle to get the shape of a tube
Back to your selection tool, select a rectangle at the wide end of your tube.
Flood fill with same linear gradient
Create a new layer
Flood fill the new layer with a patter fill using the horizontal TV pattern we made earlier
Create a new layer
Using the selection tool set to elipse, draw a small oval at the narrow end of your tube
Flood fill with linear gradient only set the opacity to 79.
Create a new layer
Using Preset Shape tool set to Rounded Square, draw a small square on top of the oval
This should be the color of our foreground (dark gray)-- select the square using your magic wand and fill it with the linear gradient
Create a new layer and flood fill using the vertical pattern we made earlier
Your image should now look like this:
If you're still with me, I'm proud of you! We're almost finished.... we just need a lid for our tube!
Create a new layer
In your layer palette, right click on the new layer and select View-->Current Only (now we won't get confused)
Find an spot on your canvas and with your selection tool draw a small rectangle (remember, this is your cap!)
Flood fill it with the linear gradient (don't forget to change the opacity back to 100)
Create a new layer and flood fill the cap with the horizontal pattern
In the layer palette right click on the layer with the horizontal lines and select Merge --> Visible.
Use the deformation tool to reshape this rectangle into something similar to a cap.
Right click on any layer and choose View --> All
Click on the glasses next to the merged layer so that we can't see it
Make one of the other layers active by clicking on it.
Right click and choose Merge-->Visible
Click the next to the cap layer again so we can see it
With the cap layer active, select the cap and move it to a spot where it's not touching your tube
Merge visible layers again and export as a picture tube
You can color it anyway you want by going to Colors --> Adjust
Or write anything you want on it. Congratulations!
Here are 2 others I made from the same image by changing the colors and adding a tube(image 2)
