It was a dark and stormy night 3

By RabidX

Remy hummed to himself while he shaved. It had been an interesting two days. Rain and Jono. The former was still pouring down, the latter was perched on the toilet watching him shave. He reached out quickly and smeared shaving cream on Jono's nose. He was rewarded with a throaty sounding chuckle. He grinned.
~One thing I don't miss. Used t' nick the hell outter meself. Never got the hang of it.~ Jono mused as he wiped the cream off his nose.
That was one of the things that made the last two days interesting. Finding out all the little things about Jono. Like that he was well versed in musical styles. Like his ticklish spots, sides and soles of his feet. Like the fact that his was a total pushover for Byron, Shelly and Keats, more so when Remy read them to him. Like the telepathic moans, sighs and throaty noises he made when aroused. Practically, that Jono was 19. That yes he had 'been' with a man before. Remy had been relieved at that one.
~Not that yer wouldn't 'ave been th' best. Ian an' me, well, we could make a roight messa anythin'.~ Jono had said with a rusty chuckle.
Another thing Remy had learned, the hard way, was that Jono was an excellent pool player. Shark really. After an evening of Pool by Candlelight, Remy owed Jono 2 backrubs, 1 blowjob and 1 whatever boring and pointless chore Jono got stuck with on the Duty Roster. It would have been a bigger debt, but Remy had distracted Jono on a crucial shot by swooping in and licking his ear. Remy wouldn't soon forget the look on Jono's face as he worked off one of his blowjobs.
Remy splashed off his face and took a towel from Jono. He planted a kiss on top of Jono's head. Jono followed him and watched him dress. When done, Remy turned and shot him a 1000 watt smile.
~Yer such a preenin' pompenjay!~ Jono said.
Remy struck a pose. "Wit' a body like dis, how can one not be?"
Jono shook his head. He loved to just watch Remy move. The man could make moping a floor look like an elegant dance. Panther quiet, swift and graceful, no wonder he had been such an accomplished thief!
~Wot's on the agenda fer today?~
Remy wrapped his arms around Jono's shoulders. "We need t' check de boathouse, make sure it's still der. An' better check de hanger f' leaks as well." He sighed and looked out the window. "As much as I like de rain, I'm beginin' t' wonder when it'll stop. Feelin' like Moses here."
~Well lead on Moses. Just don't get us lost in th' desert, eh?~ Jono said.

The Hanger....
~'ow's it look over there?~ Jono 'called' to Remy.
"Not to bad. There's some leakage from de groun'. Have t' repair de walls when it stops. Too many leaks would be bad. De Blackbird ain't a submersible." Remy called back.
Jono looked up at the big, black plane. Sleek and somehow sexy, Jono couldn't wait to go flying in it. It would mean he was an X-Man for real. He pictured the wall opening and the Blackbird shooting out on a mission. He got chills. It wasn't like he hadn't done a damned thing as a member of Gen-X, but this was the big league.
Remy lopped over and saw Jono staring up at the plane. He smiled at the look of wonder in Jono's eyes. He looked like a little boy, gazing raptly at his first plane. Remy wrapped an arm around Jono's waist. Jono leaned into him, never breaking his gaze from the plane. Remy looked up at the plane and found a bit of his once lost sense
of wonder restored. The Blackbird was truly magnificent.
Jono lay his head against Remy's chest. ~Thank you.~
Remy kissed the top of Jono's head. "Cher, der ain't nothin' you need t' thank me for. I'm glad you're here."

The Boathouse....
The door burst open and two very wet and laughing lovers stumbled in. Remy flipped his dripping hair out of his face and looked around. They were standing in shin-deep water. Remy was very glad he had let Ororo talk him into coming back to the house before the break.
Jono looked around. ~Yeeh. Bet yer glad yer not in here, eh?~
A overturned kitchen chair floated by to bump against the wall. "Ouiai! Got dat right in one!" Remy said, giving the chair a push with one wet boot. "Well, now we know. De boathouse is flooded. An' still standin'."
~Which we might not be if we don't get back to the mansion.~ Jono said, looking apprehensively out the window.
It had been a struggle to make it down to the boathouse. They had clutched each other to keep from blowing away in the wind.
Lightning had wandered across the sky and seemed to contemplate striking them. The lake was closer than Remy had thought due to it's overflowing it's banks. Of course, Remy tickling Jono didn't help. They had fallen twice.
Now the light, what feeble glow there was, was fading fast. The wind rattled the windows and Jono thought he heard part of the roof blowing off. Remy looked around one last time and shrugged. He took Jono's hand and they threw themselves back out into the storm.

The Mansion....

Remy slid up to his chin in the frothing water of the hottub. His legs wrapped around Jono's. Jono's head bobbed a bit as he adjusted his legs. Cold from the rain, Remy had steered them downstairs and peeled wet, soggy denim and cotton off both of them and plopped them into the tub. Staring now, into each other's eyes, they were completely lost.
Jono slid across and motioned for Remy to turn around. Remy did and Jono's long fingers wrapped around his shoulder and began the most wonderful massage. Strong from guitar playing, yet oh so very gentle, he worked out the knots and tight spots. Remy hung his head and moaned softly. Those fingers worked out tension and wrung out sighs and moans as sure as they played the strings.
Jono wrapped his legs around his waist to steady Remy against him. He continued to massage Remy, relishing the feel of muscle under skin. As he worked his way down Remy's spine, he laid his head against the crook of Remy's neck. The throb of Remy's pulse beat a soft tattoo against his forehead. He nuzzled it with his nose. Remy made a rumbly noise in his throat and laid his head back. Jono chuckled and did it again. Remy purred.
"Mmmm. Glad I decided de hottub was necessary equipment t'hook up to de generator." Remy said.
Jono chuckled. ~Yer jus' a big spoiled brat ain't yer?~
Remy nodded and stretched his arms up and around Jono's neck. He wiggled back against Jono as Jono's hands massaged his chest.
~An' horny as a bloody mink!~
"It's all you cher. Cain't get enough of you." Remy purred in his ear.
A strange, almost strangled, chirping noise interrupted anything Jono might have replied. Remy cursed in several languages and flung himself out of Jono's arms and the hottub. Jono followed him, grabbing up their pants. Remy squished his way to the communications room. He flipped on a monitor and sat down in a chair. Jono stood behind him, radiating confusion.
~Wot's up?~ He asked, handing Remy's his wet jeans.
Remy waved them away. "We have a channel set t' monitor de local ones. Y'know, emergency frequencies and de like. Somet'ing musta set it off."
Jono nodded and sat down, letting Remy listen. It sounded like the emergency teams, understandably, had their hands full. Remy growled and fiddled with a few knobs. The static and overlapping messages quieted. One message shot through loud and clear.
"I said a mudslide! I can see cars caught in it and there were people in them but I can't see them now!"
"Damn! We can't spare anyone from the sandbag lines! Are you sure, Jenkins?"
"Yes sir. I barely got out of my truck! I'm on the ridge now!"
Remy picked up the microphone. "Please say again. What ridge?"
"Who's this?" demanded the second voice.
"I am from de Academy. Anyt'ing we can do t' help?"
"Xavier's place, eh? Well if you can lend Jenkins a hand, I'd appreciate it. Jenkins, give 'em your location. And be careful! Damson out."
Moments later, Remy and Jono were tearing out in one of the SUV's.
"De Blackbird would be to noticeable. 'Sides, I don't fly it so well." Remy had said.
~'ere, Rem, who's Dawson? You know 'im?~ Jono asked as they made their way up road.
"Ouiai. He's de local sheriff. Professor Xavier tole me dat he know's about de school. Said we could trus' him." Remy said, spinning the wheel to avoid debris in the road.
Jono nodded. Gen-X had had a similar relationship with the sheriff back at the school. He adjusted his bandages, checking them for tightness. Been a while since he had been in his 'superhero' get-up.
Remy swung the SUV off the road and up a barely clear path on the hill. He grumbled and switched on the rack of lights on the top, illuminating the way ahead. A few bouncy minutes later, they spied a lone figure in a yellow slicker waving a flashlight. They pulled to a stop and climbed out.
The three men moved closer together. Jenkins, it turned out, was a tall, lanky and impossibly young looking sheriff's deputy. He took in the black outfits, the trenchcoat and motorcycle jacket, the eyes and the bandages. He moved closer. Jono and Remy held themselves ready. Just because the Sheriff knew about the academy didn't mean his deputies did.
"Glad you could make it!" he shouted over the rain. "Name's Jenkins."
Remy nodded. "Gambit and Chamber." He said, pointing. "What happened?"
"I was coming down the hill here to lead some people down. We'd been worried about mudslides. Well, guess we shoulda worried sooner." Jenkins said, pointing his light down the side of the ridge of rock they were standing on.
The road they had been riding on at first was completely covered by a morass of dark, shifting mud. They watched as whole trees and large rocks were swept along. The back end of what looked like an old Chevy turned lazily over.
"It's moving slower than it was when it swooped up on me." Jenkins said, pushing his deputy hat back on his head. "I barely got out of my truck and scrambled up the ridge." He sighed and a look of anguish crossed his too young face. "I didn't see anyone else get out of theirs and there were three cars behind me."
Gambit eyed the young man. He was soaked despite the rain gear and obviously very shaken. He had a few scratched on his dirty hands and one hell of a raspberry coming up on one cheek. Gambit took his arm and lead him over to the truck.
"You should get out of de rain. We can take a look aroun' for de others, non?" he said, opening the door.
Jenkins shook his head. "No way. There's only three of us. We'll all look."
Gambit looked into his determined eyes and nodded. "Where do we start?"
Soon, the three men made their way carefully down the ridge. The path was slick with rain churned mud. Chamber started to wonder what the point was. Surely if there were people around still to find, they would have climbed up or shouted out. Unless they were trapped. Stuck in the flow of the mud, entombed in Nissans and Fords. He shuddered.
"Hey! Over here!" Jenkins shouted out.
He had found a car hitched up against the side of the ridge. It was on it's side, angled nose down. There was a woman clinging, struggling to get on top, to it. Gambit and Chamber made their way to Jenkins.
The woman heard Jenkins' shouts. She looked up, rain driving into her face, and screamed for help. Gambit looked down the side. She was about 20 feet down. The car looked like it was pretty well wedged where it was. He could get down there.
Gambit turned to Chamber and Jenkins. "Go back an' pull de truck over to de edge up der. She ain't gonna be able t' pull herself up dis ridge. You can use de wench on de front t' make a harness t'pull her up."
Jenkins nodded and headed back. Chamber just stared at Gambit.
~Wot yer gonna be doin'?~
"I'm goin' down der an' get her on de top of de car. Maybe der someone else inside."
Chamber glared. ~Yer gonna do somethin' crazy ain't yer?~
"Non. I'm not. Dat would put her in danger. Now go an' help Jenkins!" Gambit shot back.
Chamber shot him one last glare and headed back up the trail. Gambit watched him for a second and turned back to the woman. She had seen two of them leave and was becoming hysterical.
"Don't go! Please! Oh God, help me!" she screamed.
"Jus' hold on! I'm comin' down!" Gambit shouted back and started over the side.
He made his way quickly, almost sliding, down the side. He caught himself on a branch so he wouldn't slam into the car. Carefully, he stepped onto the side. The car didn't shift. He let out the breath he didn't realize he had been holding.
Stretching out across the car, he grabbed the woman's arms. She had quieted when he started down and was now staring at him with a look of hope.
"Try t' pull yerself up." Gambit said.
She nodded and scrambled up. Once she was sitting on the side of the car, she grabbed Gambit and hugged him, shaking.
"My girl! She's still in there!" she sobbed in his ear.
Gambit untangled himself from her. "Front or back?"
"She... she's in the back." the woman gulped.
Gambit put his face almost to the glass and peered in. Even with his ability to see better in the dark, he couldn't see anything in the car. Then he heard a thump on the roof. At that the woman started shouting down at the car.
"Your light! Beth! Make your light!" she shouted.
The interior of the car was suddenly filled with a soft glow. The young girl inside seemed to be holding light in her hands. The mud was up to her waist. She looked scared, but was still, staring out the glass at Gambit. A sweet faced, angelic looking mutant.
"Turn away petite! Cover you're head! I'm gonna break de glass an' get you out!" Gambit shouted.
The girl nodded and turned her face away. She brought her arms up to protect her head, never letting the light die. Gambit brought out his staff and extended it. He didn't want to charge the glass, that would be too dangerous. He slammed his staff into the window twice until it broke. He broke off the edges and reached in to pull the girl out. Soon she was on the roof and hugging her mother.
Chamber called out to Gambit. ~We're ready. Sendin' the 'arness down now.~
"What yer name, chere?" Gambit asked the mother.
"Susan. Thank you."
"Don' thank Gambit yet. We gonna get you an' Beth to the top." Gambit said, standing.
Jenkins looked over the edge as they played the wench cable out. The glow told him that Susan and Beth Walker were the ones down there. He was glad to see them there. He'd be happier when they were up top.
The harness reached Gambit . They had hooked the cable back around itself and wrapped a cloth around the loop for some padding. He reached his hand out to the girl. She let go of her mother and pulled her up.
"I'm fine. You go first, Mom. You're wetter and tireder." Beth said.
"N.. no! You go!" Susan said, looking at Gambit for backup.
Gambit considered. "Susan, I t'ink Beth is right. Yer shakin' from de cold. She'll be fine goin' up next."
Susan looked back and forth at the two of them. Knowing how determined her daughter could be, she nodded and let Gambit place the harness around her. Seconds later, she was being hoisted up to the top. It was slow going, so she wouldn't snag on anything.
Beth took Gambit's hand and stared up at him. He looked down at her. She smiled shyly.
"You're a mutant too." she said, pointing at his eyes.
Gambit smiled. "Ouiai, chere. So's my friend up der." He pointed up at Chamber, who was peering down anxiously.
Beth nodded. She could see that the man had his lower face wrapped up. She was glad they were mutants. Her mother had told her she was special, but sometimes, when she saw the news, she didn't feel special. She felt sad.
"Is your real name Gambit?" she asked.
"Non, petite, but if I tell you, can you keep it secret?" Gambit asked, kneeling down next to her.
She giggled. He must be one of those superheroes, like the Fantastic Four. "Yes. I pinky swear." she said solemnly, holding her pinky out.
Gambit smiled and wrapped his pinky around hers. "It's Remy." He said, squeezing their pinkies together.
She nodded and then giggled again. She was going to be a charmer!
~Oi! Stop flirtin' and get ready.~ Chamber called to him again. ~Her mum's up safe.~
Gambit wrapped the harness tight around Beth. He guided it up as far as he could. Three tight, pale, worried faces watched from above. He waved at Beth as she rose higher. She flashed him a smile.
Chamber watched as the girl rose higher. He would rest easier when the harness was around Gambit and he was on his way up. He helped Jenkins untangle the girl as she crested the top. She shot out of their arms and into her mother's. Jenkins smiled big enough to split his head open. Chamber thumped his shoulder and crinkled his
eyes.
He turned to toss the harness back down when he saw it. A large rock, being pushed on a tide of fresh mud. Heading straight for the car. Gambit didn't even see it. He was staring up, smiling at Chamber.
Jono tried. He really did. He shouted loud in Remy's mind. Loud in the minds of everyone around him. He threw himself nearly over the edge and ripped the bandages down. He tried to hit the rock, to explode it. But it hit something else and jumped to the side. And into the car. Remy fell over the side and hit the rock. Then he was
swept up by the flow of mud.
~Nnnooooo!~ Jono howled.
"Oh my God." Susan whispered.
"Shit! Come on!" Jenkins cried. "He's got to be out cold!"
They raced down the path, following the river of mud. Susan and Beth were close on their heels. Jono couldn't see Remy anywhere. He tried to reach out with his mind, to find any trace of his lover. Jenkins shown his flashlight down the hill. Nothing.
"It's too dark!" Jenkins shouted.
"No!" shouted Beth. "You have to find him!"
She shut her eyes and her hands began to glow. The glowed brighter and brighter, until she had a small sun glowing in her hands. She raised them over her head and the whole place lit up. Her little face was screwed up tight in concentration. Her mother was stunned. Beth's light had never been this bright before.
"Hurry!" she said. "I don't know how long she can keep this up!"
Jenkins and Jono kept looking. Jono's vision kept getting clouded with tears. He swiped them away. No good crying now. He could cry later.
"Here!" Jenkins called.
Jono rushed over. Looking where Jenkins pointed, he saw a trenchcoat snagged on a downed tree. He started down the slope.
~Get the truck!~ He shouted to Jenkins.
He slid down the slope, far less gracefully than Remy had done. Wet dirt and leaves rucked up around his ass as he slid to a halt, feet on the tree. He scrambled out on it and pulled at the trenchcoat. It didn't move. With a curse, he slid into the mud, holding a branch with one hand and hauled at the limp body under the coat. Remy slowly came to the surface. There was a bloody gash on his forehead, mud in his mouth and nose. Jono hitched his torso up across the trunk of the tree.
~Aw, come on, Remy!~ He begged, pushing at his chest. ~Please wake up and breathe!~
No mouth. No mouth to mouth. He wailed inside.
Susan jerked her head back. She heard the boy wailing in her head. He... he had no mouth and Gambit, Remy she caught, wasn't breathing. Before she even though about what she was doing, she threw herself over the side. She slid to a stop, falling out across the tree trunk. Slithering out along it, she reached Gambit and pulled him close.
"Pump his chest when I tell you!" she told Jono and began to breathe into Gambit's mouth.
Hours it seemed to Jono. Hours that he pumped at Remy's unresponsive chest. Hours that Susan breathed into Remy's mouth. Hours before Remy suddenly gave a huge gasp and vomited up mud and water. Jono sobbed in relief. Susan sobbed with him.
"Can you get him up?" Susan asked.
Jono nodded. The harness was ready and waiting. He hauled Remy up fully onto the trunk. Susan helped him pull Remy over to the harness.
"You'd better go up with him." Susan said, wrapping the harness around them both.
Jono didn't protest. He hugged Remy to him as they were pulled up to the top. He lay Remy down on his side, letting the rain wash his face, and held him. He didn't even notice when Jenkins pulled Susan up. The light died out and Beth laid a small hand on his arm.
"Bob said that there are others coming. They can help him find more people." she said softly.
Jono stared into her young face, into her old seeming eyes.
"You should get him home. Not everyone is nice to us." Beth said, brushing some muddy hair out of Remy's eyes. "You can't hide as well as I do."
Jenkins came over. "You got any way of taking care of him?"
Jono nodded. ~Yeah. Just 'elp me get 'im into the truck.~
They carefully picked Remy up and laid him in the backseat. He was moaning, a good sign. Jono turned and shook Jenkins' hand, got a hug from Susan and Beth.
"Thank you. Thank him. And I'm so sorry he got hurt." Susan said.
Jono sped as fast as he dared, back to the Mansion. Remy was struggling to sit up when they pulled up to the front. He moaned and clutched at his head. Jono ran around and helped him out of the truck and into the Mansion.
"Ooohhh cher. Wha' happened?" Remy moaned.
Jono half dragged, half carried him to a couch in the den. He laid him down and sat on the edge.
~I'll tell yer after yer tell me where a Med-Kit is.~ Jono said.
"Der's one in de kitchen. Bobby was always cuttin' himself so Henri put one in de... de pantry." Remy groaned.
Jono rushed in and rummaged in the pantry. He found the Med-Kit bearing a large label, 'Everything Bobby Needs'. He came back and found Remy sitting up, head laid back. He opened the Med-Kit and began to clean the gash on Remy's head. Remy hissed but stayed still.
~Since yer don't remember, I guess yer got yerself concussed. So, a ruddy big rock came boulderin' along. I missed it. It didn't miss the car. Yer cracked yer 'ead open on it an', if it hadn't been fer that little gel, we wouldn't 've found you in time.~
Jono continued to dab at the wound while Remy absorbed the news. Disinfecting the whole of Remy's forehead, he realized that the gash wasn't too deep. He rummaged in the kit and found some butterfly bandages. Carefully, he pulled the wound shut with them. Then he covered them with gauze.
Remy smiled weakly at him and then made a terrible face. He pushed Jono to the side and bolted to a bathroom. Jono followed and heard him retching behind a hastily slammed door. Several flushes later, Remy staggered out looking paler than before.
"Mutsa puked up half de mud from de river." he gasped.
~Yeah. Kinda worried about that.~ Jono said. ~ That stuff is gonner make yer sick.~
Remy waved a hand. Jono caught it and him before he slipped to the floor, knees buckling. He helped Remy upstairs. He placed Remy down on the toilet and stripped off his clothes. They were both totally filthy. Stripping off his own, he helped Remy into the shower. With some flailing help from Remy, he got them both clean.
After an endless struggle with the towels, they lay wrapped up warm in Remy's huge bed. Jono held Remy wrapped up in his arms. Remy laid his head on Jono's bandages and relished the warmth. As he started to drift off, Jono nudged him. Remy grumbled. Jono mearly chuckled. It was going to be a long night.
Sometime in the night, Jono began to cry. Remy was asleep, still snuggled to his chest. Tears coursed down Jono's face. He had just found Remy and almost lost him.
<An' it woulda been my fault! Ah God, I missed!>
<Hey vato, you didn'.> piped up The Voice of Reason, Rhyme and Bullshit. It sounded, as usual, like Angelo.
Angelo had been forever, it seemed, the one to give Jono the kick in the ass he needed. Jono used to talked to Penance, well, talked AT Penny really. She, of course, never had anything to say. Not so Angelo. He *always* had a mouthful to impart. He would come down to Jono's basement hide-a-way and listen to records, smoke, and generally hang out. Jono missed him terribly.
<Wot if I 'ad blasted Remy instead?> Jono laid his head back against the headboard and closed his eyes.
<What if, what if, what if. You gonna kill me with what if. You didn't! Man! Cabron, you need to stop this.>
Jono could feel Angelo whopping him up side the head. It was strangely soft for a hit. He opened his eyes. Remy was stroking his cheek, wiping away his tears. Jono caught his hand and pressed it to his face.
"Why you cryin', cher?" Remy whispered.
He had woken up and seen the tears coursing down his lover's face. His lovely brown eyes were screwed up tight, his shoulders shaking lightly.
~I... I was... overthinking as usual. I missed th' rock, Rem. And I coulda 'it you.~ Jono sniffled, pulling Remy tight to him.
Remy struggled loose a bit and faced Jono. He took Jono's head in his hands. Brown hair was sticking up in every direction. Remy smoothed it and kissed the tip of Jono's nose. Those deep, dark eyes were still watery.
"Hey der. Remy is fine, cher. You saved me, non?" He said.
Jono shook his head, more tears spilling. ~No Remy, I didn't. Susan did. I couldn't 'elp you. You couldn't breathe, Remy! An' I couldn't do a bloody damn thin' about it!~
Jono struggled free from Remy and threw himself out of the bed. He snatched up a towel and wrapped it around his waist. He headed for the door.
"Where you goin'?" Remy asked, alarmed.
~Fer a walk.~ Jono mumbled in Remy's mind and shut the door behind him.
Remy collapsed back on the bed. His head was trying to split open and he knew he was going to throw up again. He felt miserable. He staggered to the bathroom and hunkered down in front of the toilet. He vomited what felt like gallons of stuff. Leaning back against the wall, he wrapped his arms around his knees.
"Ah Jono... come back, cher." he whispered to the empty room.
Jono walked out into the rain. He had thrown on jeans, a shirt and boots hastily. He had forgotten a coat. In seconds, he was soaked to the skin. Not that it mattered to him. He walked the grounds aimlessly. A morass of dark thoughts whirled around in his mind. Death, destruction, loneliness, death... round and round, followed by a pack of 'what if's'. What if they hadn't found Remy? What if he had been alone? What if the woman had been hurt and couldn't help
Remy breathe? What if they had been killed? What if Remy got hurt worse? What if he got sicker? What if....
A wave of sadness washed over him. It filled his mind and staggered him. Pain and fear rode in right behind it. If he had a digestive tract, he would have gagged. He grabbed at the brick wall of the house. What....Remy!
He shook it off, but didn't raise his mental shields. Instead, he tried to let Remy know he was coming back. He ran in the house and up the stairs. He found Remy in the bathroom, balled up in front of the toilet. He slid to his knees and gathered Remy in his arms.
~Ah God, I'm sorry!~
Remy clung to him. He felt the warmth and love pouring off Jono. He had done it again. Let his control slip.
"Non, non, non. I'm de one sorry!" he cried against Jono's shoulder.
Jono blinked. This was absurd. He held Remy away, at arms length.
~Orright. We're *both* sorry. And we both are complete fuck ups. There. That better?~ he said with an eye crinkle.
Remy sniffed. He looked at Jono. He began to giggle. Jono waggled his eyebrows. Remy laughed outright.
~Wot a pair we are,eh?~ Jono snorted.
Remy hugged him. "Yer all wet. An' my head hurts."
"And you're on the floor, naked." said a new voice from the doorway.
Remy and Jono nearly jumped out of their collective skins. Remy clutched at Jono, Jono at Remy. A dark figure stood in the door. It chuckled.
"And being held by a leatherboy." it said, and flicked a lighter on under its chin.
"Can't wait to tell everyone about this!" crowed Bobby Drake.
The Iceman was home.
