My Hometown Alton, Illinois |
The Piasa Bird - Great River Road |
It's a rare thing these days to actually live in the town in which you were born. Such is the case for Diane Elizabeth (Hendricks) Parish - aka dhpea. I'm proud of my hometown on The Mighty Mississippi. We are considered here part of the greater St. Louis area. They call this place The Riverbend. The Alton area is rich in neat history, like the Piasa Bird, Elijah P. Lovejoy, The Confederate Prison, The Gentle Giant- Robert Wadlow, The Lincoln-Douglas Debates and my personal favorite, Lewis & Clark and the Corps of Discovery who camped nearby and began their journey to find the passage to the Pacific Ocean..
