Charity performance for Runson-FairHaven High SchoolOn December 19, Jon, Dave, Hugh and fellow musicians, Bobby Bandiera, Lorenza Ponce and Evertt Bradley played an acoustic show for students, teachers and alumni at Runson-FairHaven High School in New Jersey. It was a fundraiser for the Parker Family Health Center and raised $36,000 for the Red Bank-based free clinic.

Plane incident for Jon and David Bryan
On December 16, Jon and David Bryan, plus crew members of the band, were on a QANTAS 747-400 jumbo jet carrying 191 passengers from Los Angeles to New York when the plane was forced to return to the airport after suffering engine failure soon after take-off. The flight took off again 3 1/2 hours later on another plane and everyone arrived safely in New York.

During the performance 3 fans (a man and 2 women) jumped into the harbour and began swimming out towards the floating stage. The women obeyed security staff and swam back to shore, however, the man continued swimming and reached the band where Jon helped him up out of the water and onto the stage. When told the man might be issued a court summons for his actions, Jon said, "We're gonna pay his fines".

New solo projects for Richie
Richie plays a solo on a song called Queen of Apostles by a band called the Mineral Kings. It's on a CD called Metropolis. The CD came out on Nov. 25 in the USA.
Richie and Everett Bradley, who you probably know from Jon's Solo-tour or Richie's tour in Japan, have recorded a Christmas song that is published on Everett Bradley's new Christmas-CD. The name of the Song is Funky Santa. You can hear 2 minutes of it at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ebradley2.

Bon Jovi perform during half-time at Thanksgiving NFL Game
Yesterday, Bon Jovi performed "It's My Life" and "Everyday"
during the halftime of the Thanksgiving Day game between

at Ford Field in Detroit. Jon was probably happy with the score of the game, as his friend, Bill

The real winner of the GMA poll was "I'll Be There For You"
When Bon Jovi performed "It's My Life" on "Good Morning America" Friday, viewers were told the band was playing the song that finished on top in a poll conducted on ABCnews.com. Online voters chose from a list of five Bon Jovi tunes -- "Wanted Dead or Alive," "You Give Love a Bad Name," "I'll Be There for You," "It's My Life" and "Misunderstood" -- all from the band's new album, "Bounce." The New York Daily News reported Monday that "It's My Life" was not the top vote-getter -- that it actually finished second to the ballad "I'll Be There for You." As Jon Bon Jovi and his band mates took the stage for the live shot in Miami, they were told that the harder-rocking "It's My Life" was the fan favorite, and that's what they played. The paper quoted "GMA" producer Shelley Ross admitting that she decided to have the band play a song that finished second in the fan balloting. "The voting was very close, and I made a decision to go with 'It's My Life,'" said Ross. "You're right that the ballad won out. It was a last-minute decision that I made to go with an upbeat song that is a fan-based favorite." Ross said Bon Jovi had nothing to do with the choice, and would have been happy to play either tune. On November 15, Bon Jovi were on the beach in Miami Beach to perform 2 songs on the USA morning TV show, Good Morning America. The first song was Misunderstood. And the second song was It's My Life, the winner of the viewer's poll on the ABC website.
Bon Jovi perform at Europe MTV Awards 2002
Bon Jovi were in Barcelona, Spain this past week for the Europe MTV Awards 2002.
During the November 14 show they performed "It's My Life". Bon Jovi were also nominated for Best Rock Group but that award went to the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Earlier in the week, the band attended a press conference for the Europe MTV Awards 2002.

Misunderstood video

"Bounce" has debuted on the Canadian album charts at number 3, selling 18,800 copies last week.

Bounce debuts at Number 2 on Billboard USA Album chart
In the USA, "Bounce", sold 159,700 copies and debuted at number 2 on the Billboard charts. This is Bon Jovi's highest ever debut on the Billboard album charts.
By comparison, "New Jersey" debuted at number 8, then went to number 1 and stayed there for 4 weeks. "Slippery When Wet" debuted at number 45 before going to number 1. And the highest on the chart for "Crush" was its debut at number 9.

Bounce released in USA and Canada tomorrow
On Friday October 4, a U.S. District Court judge in New York denied DownloadCard's request for a preliminary injunction. The judge also ruled that the company failed to show any hardships it might suffer as a result of the CD release would outweigh the hardship Universal Music and Bon Jovi would suffer from its delay. Therefore, Bounce will be in American and Canadian stores tomorrow.

Possible delay of North American release of Bounce
News reports are suggesting that the North American release of Bounce could be delayed because of a legal issue over anti-piracy technology. Universal Music, Bon Jovi's label, is being sued by DownloadCard, a provider of anti-piracy services. Universal Music has launched a promotional campaign with the Bon Jovi album involving a serial number that will come with every copy. Users can type in to the band's Web site for exclusive content. DownloadCard claims it created the program and offered it to Universal Music. DownloadCard is seeking compensatory damages. Hopefully this is all about money and the cd will be released as scheduled. As of today, www.bonjovi.com still shows October 8 as the release date.

The cd single for Everyday is available to buy in music stores in Canada. The extra song on the single is the demo Lucky. I found the single in Music World. It cost $3.99 plus tax. With the release date of Bounce almost here, promotional activity has moved into high gear.
Off To Japan
Today they guys are jetting off from London to Japan where Bounce will be released on September 11. While in Japan they will perform at a small club in Tokyo. The concert will also be beamed via satellite to venues in Sapporo, Sendai, Nagoya, Osaka and Fukuoka, and aired on TV at a later date by MTV Japan.

NFL Kickoff
On September 5, promotional activities in New York City kept them going from dawn till after dusk. Jon and Richie started their morning early with a 7:30 AM live interview with Katie Couric on The Today Show on NBC. They talked about the new album, how Richie was at Jon's house on September 11 and how that event influenced some songs on Bounce. At the end of the interview, Jon told Katie he'd see her next month, so I guess we can look forward to another Today Show visit in October.
After the Today Show interview Jon was whisked over to Wall Street where he
rang the opening bell at the
New York Stock Exchange. When asked by CNBC reporter, Maria Bartiromo,
if he had ever been to the stock
exchange before and if he followed the market, he answered "no" to the first question
and then laughed and said "of course" to the second one.After interviews in the afternoon, and a little time to rest, the guys headed over to Times Square. At 5:10 PM, they performed "It's My Life. At 6:35 they were back on stage and performed "Wanted Dead Or Alive" and "Everyday" for the CBS special.
Then from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, they were back on stage again to headline the show.

Then Bon Jovi sang a rendition of "America The Beautiful" as members of the NYPD and FDNY unfurled a gigantic American flag across Times Square.
As the day was not yet over, they were then rushed off to the heliport, where they were flown by helicopter across the river to Giants Stadium. And then during halftime, they again performed "Everyday".

Info on 20th Anniversary Boxset
On September 5, The Loop, an entertainment type show on Canadian video station, Muchmoremusic aired a excerpt from an interview Bill Welychka did with Jon, Richie, Dave and Tico. One question referred to next year, the 20th anniversary of the band, and that they would be putting out a boxset to commenorate the date. Jon had the following to say about the content:
"We're putting out a boxset which we're pretty excited about. You know, not just a collection of the masters in a box, but, uhm, a sort of a real hardcore fans look inside as to all the songs that don't make records. We're picking the best of, from everything dating back as far as we have in the vaults, uhm, putting together an incredible B-section, a B-Sides collection, a cover selection, insight to incomplete songs and, you know, like really trying to make it a worthwhile trip. It will be the core of the celebration."
Gossip from Liz Smith's September 5 New York Post column
TV SIREN Heather Locklear and Bon Jovi bandman Richie Sambora are happily married. And they intend to stay happy.
Heather tells InStyle that she and some girlfriends went off to see Diane Lane and Richard Gere agonize in "Unfaithful." The impact was so strong, Locklear says, "I was supposed to go work out after the movie. But I was so disturbed, we decided to go have a martini instead. Then, we called our husbands and said, "I'll never cheat on you. I'll never cheat on you."
Well, something is working here. Richie still writes Heather those long love letters, and Heather still gets herself togged out in bikinis and high-heels to surprise him when he comes home after a long day on guitar!

On the September 6 entertainment tv show, Access Hollywood, Billy Bush read the part from the gossip column about Heather still getting "togged out in bikinis and high-heels to surprise him when he comes home after a long day on guitar" and asked if it was true. Richie replied, with a smile, "you're damn right, it's true."

Jon at Giants football practiceOn Tuesday, August 27, Jon showed up at the Giants practice field in East Rutherford, N.J. to promote the Times Square concert. Several members of the press were there to interview him and clips of the practice were shown on the entertainment television shows such as Access Hollywood and Entertainment Tonight. Private concert
On Friday, August 23, Bon Jovi taped a private concert in New York City for about 500 guests, including some winners from the fanclub. Rumour has it that this was a taping for international tv but no official announcement has been made.

Jon jams with Daddy Pop
On July 28, 2002, the cover band Daddy Pop was playing at a club called Joe Pop's on Long Beach Island, in New Jersey. Jon, Dorothea and a couple friends were in the audience and during the second set, Jon went up on stage with the band and joined them in singing Wanted Dead Or Alive.

September 5 NFL event details
Today the NFL officially announced the details concerning the September 5, 2002 event involving Bon Jovi. In brief, Bon Jovi and others will perform at Times Square in New York City prior to the opening game of the NFL. Bon Jovi will also perform during halftime during the game. Parts of the event will be televised by various tv stations.

Radio station concert announcement for UK
This morning the UK radio station 95.8 Capital FM announced that Bon Jovi was the first act to sign on to play at the Wembley Arena on September 7, 2002 and that they will "will be playing all of their hits as well as some new material". More information available at www.capitalradio.co.uk.
Unconfirmed contest details
Though no official announcement has been made, Jon hints to something about football in the current newsletter from the fanclub so this rumor could be true. Apparently, the contest at www.bonjovi.com to win a trip to NYC will involve a concert by Bon Jovi at Times Square on September 5 followed by a performance at Giants Stadium for the 49ers-Giants season-opener halftime show.

Everyday leaked on internet
Yesterday was an interesting day in cyberspace. The Cyprus radio station KISS FM began playing Everyday (with a KISS FM whisper sound in the background) and the mp3 quickly made it onto the net. Not surprisingly the webmaster of the site was ordered to remove the mp3. It's now gone.
There is, however, a 20 second mp3 of the chorus available at http://www.antenne.de/antenne/music/stars/bon_jovi/home/index.html.

The first single from Bounce will be called Everyday and bonjovi.com website confirms that a video was filmed during the first weekend in July in Socorro, New Mexico. The location was at the VLA where the astronomical radio observatories seen in the Jodie Foster movie "Contact" are located.

Vampires: Los Muertos release information
Looks like yet another of Jon's films won't be hitting the big screen. Vampires: Los Muertos, the action movie Jon spent the first few months of 2001 filming in Mexico, is scheduled to premiere on the American cable channel Action on July 6, 2002. The film is also rumoured to be released on video/dvd in Fall 2002 and some fans have seen the trailer when they rented Not Another Teen Movie.

"Jon Bon Jovi barely made it home to Monmouth County, NJ in time to welcome his third child, Jacob Hurley, into the world on May 7. After playing a show in New Orleans on May 6, the rocker returned to his hotel room where he was so bombarded with calls from fans who had uncovered his whereabouts that he turned off his phone. When wife Dorothea called in the middle of the night to tell him that her water broke, Bon Jovi couldn't be reached. Eventually, his tour manager broke into his room to give him the news, then rushed him to a private jet. Once airborne, the pilot got air traffic controllers to clear airspace so they could take the most direct route, and Bon Jovi made it to his wife's side with two hours to spare."

Bon Jovi to perform at Zootopia 2002
It was announced on April 18th, that Bon Jovi will be one of the performers at the Z-100 ZOOTOPIA concert taking place at Giant's Stadium on June 2, 2002. Other performers include Shakira, Marc Anthony, Pink, Mary J. Blige, Goo Goo Dolls, P. Diddy, Alanis Morrissette, Celine Dion and Michelle Branch. Check out the Z-100 website for more details.
David Bryan inducted into Hall of Honour at his old high school
Also on April 18th, David Bryan was inducted into the Hall of Honor at his old high school in Edison, New Jersey. David, a 1980 graduate of John P. Stevens High School, was among 12 people honored by the school for their achievements. The ceremony included a video salute from the members of Bon Jovi.
Jon performs at Coco-Cola investors meeting
On April 17th, Jon performed at Coca-Cola Company's investor's meeting in New York City. The meeting also included a performance by jazzman Wynton Marsalis, comments of baseball ironman Cal Ripken and a walk-on appearance by boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
Jon & Richie perform at Willie Nelson & FriendsOn April 14th, Jon and Richie were among the stars who gathered to pay musical tribute to Willie Nelson. The show, Willie Nelson and Friends: Stars and Guitars was taped at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium, onetime home of the Grand Ole Opry and Nelson's old stomping grounds.
Jon and Richie sang Always on My Mind with Willie Nelson. Other performers included Sheryl Crow, Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards, Matchbox Twenty, the Dixie Chicks, Vince Gill and Ryan Adams. The concert is scheduled to air on television on May 27 on the USA Network.

Bon Jovi back in the studio
Bon Jovi are back in the studio recording their new album, currently called, Bounce. The album is being co-produced by Jon and Richie along with Luke Ebbin, the same team who produced Crush. The album is slated for a late Fall release.
Jon & Richie sign on to Willie & Friend
Jon and Richie have signed on to take part in Willie & Friend, a concert with performances of Willie Nelson's classic songs, as well as some of his favorites, performed by various different artists. Besides Jon and Richie, Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Ryan Adams, Dave Matthews, Lee Ann Womack, Vince Gill, Matchbox 20's Rob Thomas, Hank Williams III, Brian McKnight will all perform with Willie Nelson. The concert will be held at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN on Sunday April 14. The concert is scheduled to air on the A & E Network on Monday May 6. Tico at Fairway to Heaven Golf Tournament
Tico Torres recently participated in the annual Fairway To Heaven Golf Tournament at the Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Florida. Other celebrities included Poison's Bret Michaels, Motley Crue's Vince Neil, Backstreet Boys' AJ McLean and Brian Littrell, Queensryche's Geoff Tate and Michael Wilton, Lisa Loeb, Dweezil Zappa and Branford Marsalis. Proceeds from the event go to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, which aims to preserve and establish music education in public schools across the country.

Bon Jovi perform at Olympics Closing CeremonyLast night Bon Jovi performed at the closing ceremony of the Olympics at the Rice-Eccles Olympic Stadium in Salt Lake City. They first performed It's My Life during which Jon wrapped himself in the USA flag. And then after the "biggest pyrotechnic display in American history" they returned to perform You Give Love A Bad Name with Jon's friend, Steve Young, a retired quarterback for San Fransico 49ers and who attended Brigham Young University in Salt Lake City, joining them onstage.

On February 2, the inaugural MTV Asia Awards were held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and Bon Jovi won the award for Favorite Rock Act.
Richie & Heather at Love RocksOn February 14, Richie and Heather attended The Love Rocks: Celebrating The Biggest Hearts In Entertainment event at the new Kodak Theatre in Hollywood. The event was held to honour U2 singer Bono for his philanthropic efforts.
Jon & Richie to pay tribute to Billy Joel
On February 25, Jon and Richie wiill be among the artists paying tribute to Billy Joel when he's honored as Musiccares 2002 Person of the Year for his humanitarian work. Jon and Richie will perform a Billy Joel song, as will other artists such as Rob Thomas, Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Mary J. Blige and Garth Brooks.
Bon Jovi nominated for Echo award
Bon Jovi have been nominated for the Best International Group for the German music award "Echo". The awards will be presented in Berlin on March 7. The other nominees for the award are Destiny's Child, Depeche Mode, R.E.M. and Westlife.
Richie nominated for Gibson Guitar Award
Richie has been nominated for a Gibson Guitar Award in the category for Best Rock Guitarist. Other nominees are: Ryan Adams, Peter Buck (R.E.M.), The Edge (U2), Jonny Greenwood (Radiohead), Mark Knopfler, Lenny Kravitz, Dave Navarro, Joe Perry (Aerosmith) and Steve Vai. The awards will be presented on February 26.
Jon helps boost Ally ratings
It seems as though Jon's guest-starring role may be helping boost ratings of Ally McBeal. According to a report from Yahoo News, the February 11th episode of "Ally McBeal" hit season highs with viewers and 18-49 and extended its growth streak to six weeks in 18-49 and five weeks in viewers.

Pollstar Magazine has issued a list of the top 40 grossing North American concert tours of 2001, and Bon Jovi's One Wild Night tour with 32 shows grossing $12.5 million ranked number 33. The number 1 spot went to U2 with 80 shows grossing $109.7 million.
