Included here also are some other records found for each soldier. While Robert Horn did an excellent job putting together the muster list, that is about all his book is and he leaves much of the regiments history out of his book. |

| The 45th Alabama was organized into ten companies from Barbour, Lowndes, Macon and Russell Counties. Only a few came from adjacent counties. Four companies, D, G, H and K had assembled at Loachapoka where they were to have been organized into the 34th Regiment. Disagreement between organizing officers resulted in these units being withdrawn to Auburn where they were formed into the 45th in May of 1862. Though sister units the 45th and 34th only fought one battle together: Murfreesboro, Tennessee where they were together side by side. Letters from R.T.C. Robinson, a private in Company D state that a Captain M.J. Bulger was involved in the disagreement and he later became an officer in the 47th Alabama Regiment, organized at Loachapoka, May 22, 1862. Company B was primarily made up of men from Macon County who also made up Companies E, K, H and G. Leaders of these were Thomas F. Flournoy, James Jackson, James M. Simmons, R.H. Abercrombie and L.M. Wilson. As is seen throughout the muster rolls the majority or men of Company B were mustered out of Opelika, which was in that portion of Russell County that was taken to form Lee County in December, 1866. Other contributing counties to Russell County were Macon, Chambers and Tallapoosa. |
