James T.Golden
1st Sgt. 45th  Alabama Infantry Regiment
Son of James Oliver and Virginia Carolyn Golden, born in Nashville,TN, July21,1826
Moved to Chattanooga in 1843. Tried his hand at at farming and worked in the new charcoal iron industry in 1852.
Worked for the Western & Atlantic Railroad in Chattanooga,TN as a Yard Worker for Aug. 1858 till July 1858.
Moved to Opelika, Alabama in July 1858 and worked the Montgomery & West Point Railroad as a breakman on the
Col. Jeese P. Taylor from July 1858 till March 1860 and a fireman on the Richard Peters from April 1860 till May 1862.  Enlisted the 45th Co. B in May 1862.
Christopher A. Cox  aka Paddy O'Toole

Son of Ensign Bejamin N. and Frances Hinesley Cox  born in San Diego, CA October 1,1830
Briefly attended Jacksonville Male Acedemy in Jacksonville, AL. School bored him so he enlisted in the US Army in 1851.  He obtained a position as an assisant to the military attache in Berlin, Prussia in 1853.
While on his assignment, he met a beautiful young woman, Joanna M. Federico.  She is the daughter of Carmine and Josephine Federico of Syracuse, New York.  She was on a piano concert tour of Europe.  They corresponded for two years.  They were married in 1857.
They moved back to Jacksonville, AL so he could continue his education.  In 1859, they started to New Orleans, LA to start a new life.  On the way, the wagon wheel broke outside Auburn, AL.  Having that they had little money, they stayed in Auburn.  He got a job in a law firm as a clerk.  Joanna gave piano lessons to bring in extra money. Chris joined the local milita "Auburn Guards" in late 1859.  When Alabama withdrew from the Union, Chris resigned from the "Auburn Guards". He did not want to fight against his in-laws or his kin-folks.  He was strong believer in the Constution and States Rights, but did not own any slaves.  He figured this was not his fight at first.. By early 1862, all his friends enlisted in the army and the Federal forces invaded the Confedracy.  NOW is the time to do some fighting.  He decided to enlist in November in Co.B, 45th Ala. Reg't Inf. under the alias of Patrick B. O'Toole so his wife would not find him.
Brian Cardinali
Pvt. 45th  Alabama Infantry Regiment
Born in Dooly County, GA on February 5, 1833. Graduate of  Georgia Military Institute.  Served with Jackson in the Mexican War.  Had a lucrative career selling ointments, saves, and bowel liquor.  Enlisted in Auburn, AL.
Single and no children.
Jim Finch
Pvt. 45th  Alabama Infantry Regiment (2nd LT. Hardee Guards Battalion--Adj.)
Known as "Pap" in Company B. Born  January 19,1811 in Anson County, North Carolina.  Raised on the family farm and worked in the family owned saw mill and store.  Attend Wake Forest College and became a teacher.  Moved to Macon County, Alabama to teach and operate a family business.  Enlisted as a private in Company B, in March of 1862 at Opelika, Alabama.  Many of the young men in the company were his students, and he knew their families back home.

Tim Wilson
Pvt. 45th  Alabama Infantry Regiment
Son of Alan Scott and Eleanor Ruth Wilson, born in Campbell County, Georgia on August 7, 1840 into a family of 8 with 4 other brothers.  He worked on the family farm, which is waht almost everyone in Campbell County.  In 1859 he moved across the border into Alabama to start a farm with one of his brothers.  Tim's family never owned any slaves and believed in states' rights.  He decided to the honorable thing to do was to enlist in Co. B 45th Ala. Inf. Reg't. in 1862 on the principles he believed were right.
