Pony Peddlers
Collectors
rely heavily on dealers, and My Little Pony collectors are no exception. I sell MLPs fairly often, and I’m often
disturbed by what I see other dealers doing.
I’m sometimes surprised collectors buy off the Internet at all.
The My
Little Pony market is largely unregulated.
It has no regularly updated price guides, or sophisticated systems for
rating a pony’s condition. Worst of
all, many MLP dealers seem to have no ethics whatsoever. I’ve decided to do something about this.
If you sell
ponies on the Internet, whether it’s on your personal web site or an auction
site like eBay, read the Pony Peddler Code.
If you follow these guidelines you can use the Pony Peddler
badge below on your site. You don’t have to provide a link to my site,
but I would certainly appreciate it, especially since it gives buyers a chance
to read about Pony Peddlers. And
whatever you do, please save it onto your own server. Don’t link to mine.
The Pony Peddler Code
- A
Pony Peddler never uses a phrase like, “I don’t collect these so I
don’t know their names.” Always list
their names—it helps buyers find them with engine searches.
- A
Pony Peddler is completely honest about a pony’s condition. Collectors want to know about every
little flaw. Pony Peddlers are also careful to clean responsibly.
- A
Pony Peddler never describes a pony as “rare” unless it really is. There are no rare Applejacks, so don’t
describe them as such.
- A
Pony Peddler does not look for variations where there are none. If Posey’s hair or Bow-Tie’s symbols
fade, it does not make them rare “white-haired Posey” and “Bow-Tie with
white bows.”
- A
Pony Peddler always leaves feedback.
- A
Pony Peddler charges for shipping, not handling, and is clear about
shipping charges before an auction ends.
- A
Pony Peddler starts bids low, even on rare items. We’re toy dealers, not drug
dealers. The prices will reach the
appropriate levels on their own. I don't recommend reserve auctions.
- A
Pony Peddler provides pictures of their goods if at all possible.
- A
Pony Peddler is courteous and packages with care. I include packing lists with all my
items, in case the package is damaged.
- This is the most important rule: A
Pony Peddler’s first priority is the customer.
