~WHAT'S GOING ON?~
~June 2, 2004~
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted on this site. Having a baby tends to keep me busy, go figure. Everyone is doing great. Joe is enjoying his temporary position as Code Enforcement Officer. He gets set days and holidays off for once. Shannon and Caitlin are almost out of school for the summer. They are both bringing home straight A's and both are reading 2 grade levels above their grade. Shannon took the mandatory Iowa State test and scored above average on all subjects. Caitlin is the top runner in her Junior Joggers program. Johnny is doing great. He's 6 months old and is wearing size 12 months. He's a big boy and seems to grow everyday. He's happy all the time and is such a joy to be around. I'm enjoying staying at home again so I can be with him all day.

After 3 ultrasounds our SON finally cooperated! We are so thrilled we're expecting a boy and his name will be John Thomas. We've combined Shannon and Caitlin's rooms again and we're about ready to paint Johnny's room and get some furniture moved in. Shannon and Caitlin are happy about getting a little brother, although were initially rooting for a baby sister. Joe acted "cool" about it at first, but he's having a hard time containing his excitement now. Everything is going well except that now I have gestational diabetes and have to test my blood sugar 4 times a day and give myself an insulin injection every morning. The doctor says that as long as we keep my blood sugar in check, there should be no complications.

Well we went in for the 20 week ultrasound today. The doctor said everything looks great! The heart and kidneys are working fine and we counted fingers and toes. The baby was very active and we were able to see all the views except for the one we really wanted, which was to determine if our little one is a boy or girl. We had a feeling this would happen since the baby has a history of playing "hide & seek" with us and the doctor. Oh well, we'll try again in another month! Look below for the ultrasound picture links.

Of course the BIG news is we're expecting our baby on December 12th! We've wanted this for so long now and it's a miracle to us that we were finally blessed with this precious gift. We'll hopefully find out on July 22nd if we are having a boy or girl.
Joe is working graveyard shift all summer. Shannon and Caitlin have been keeping busy swimming, reading, and taking horseback riding lessons. I (Sheryl) had to quit my job due to rising blood pressure. I'll be starting my home medical transcription business hopefully around September. In the meantime, I'm really enjoying being back to staying home with Joe and the kids!
