Rating includes factors such as crowds, consistency, water temp, sharks, other nasties, location, accessibility and mystical intangibles. I have personally surfed all these locations on a good day with the exception of Jefferies Bay in South Africa. The best point break waves I have ever surfed were at Crescent Heads NSW and Johnsons Cove, Noosa Heads QLD ... but it only breaks once or twice a year after a cyclone!
(1)Angourie: North Coast, New South Wales, Australia. The swell hits the headland, sweeps around and jumps up forming a series of fast, hot and hollow shortboard bowls. Consistant right hand point break, warm water, rock and sand bottom, no crowds during the week.
(2)Crescent Heads: North Coast, New South Wales, Australia. Long sweeping right hand point break with perfectly shaped longboard walls, warm water, cobble stone bottom, runs into a small creek mouth. A little inconsistant but not too crowded during the week.
(3)Malibu: Southern California, USA. The "Summer Place" Da Cat "Mickey Dora" still lives in these waters! A series of three point breaks over rock and sand bottom. Crowded.
(4)Jefferies Bay: Durban, South Africa. Consistent, very powerful fast hollow shortboard walls, rock and sand bottom, California water temperatures and Great Whites!
(5)Greenmount/Snapper: Gold Coast, Queensland Australia. Consistent, super long sweeping right hand point break, paper thin, hollow shortboard tubes across the "Superbank". Rock and sand bottom ... very crowded.
(6)Raglan: West Coast, North Island, New Zealand. Consistent, long sweeping left hand longboard point break with perfect shape, cobble stone bottom, not often crowded but cold water and often blown out.
(7)Honolua Bay: Maui, Hawaii, USA. Consistent, long right hand point break similar to Malibu with bath water, rock and sand bottom with hollow sections for shortboarders and climb and drop walls for sliders but usually crowded.
(8)Noosa Heads: Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. A series of three perfect right hand point breaks over cobble stone bottom with bath water, can be the best in the world but inconsistent.
(9)Rincon: Southern California, USA. Classic, long right hand winter point break, rock and sand bottom. Cold water and very crowded when working.
(10) Kirra Beach: Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. A very fast, very powerful, right hand point break, warm water, rock and sand bottom but very inconsistent today due to the huge buildup of sand... no crowds when big ... super strong rip and you will need rocket assist!
Learned to surf at that left hander just right of center in the photo (similar to Bolsa Chica) before paddling out to Greenmount Point with the big boys!
The Superbank runs all the way from Snapper Rocks through Rainbow Bay across Greenmount Point to Coolangatta!

My new Mark Richards based Jean-Luc Roberts "Super Fish". Loose as a goose ... paddles and catches a wave as easy as 123! "The "Super Fish" is the ultimate small wave performance board. It is fast, loose, and easy to turn. Featuring a slight V at the tail with a double concave bottom for speed, a wider template with more nose area for flotation and paddling power plus the original winged Swallowtail from the 1970's twin fins. The outer fins are Mark Richards TFX 5" FCS twins, and there is a small 3" FCS stabiliser in the centre. The board performs like a faster, looser thruster; tons of fun in small waves. The fins are made of fiberglass so the performance and flex have the same feel as a glassed-on fin with good holding power and lots of drive. The new template has more rake than the original to control the slide and to improve the fins' drive and holding power. Even though the fins have been principally designed for MR's Super Twins to be ridden with the stabilizers included, we feel they are very adaptable as a Super Twin, without the stabilizer."
