CARDIFF
Tanzschau is a prtable club which now appears three nights a week in different venues in South Wales.  It began as an electro-disco - the name means Dance Show in German and was chosen because of the one-time popularity of Kraftwerk's music - but has now,  grown into something much bigger, as one of the organisers explained to New Sounds, New Styles .
"We've  always been involved in DJing or in bands - there are two of us putting Tanzschau on - I came back from Amsterdam last year and did some DJing in the conventional clubs in Cardiff. But after a bit I had to find my own sort of club ;  it was a classic  case of gettng up and doing something for yourself.
We got a sort of designer-general,  Edward Klak, from the local art college.  He started off by making a set of mannequins, ashtrays, lights, wall-plaques, beer-mats.  So we've now got a sort of portable night club, which does one night a week in Newport, one in the Tiger bay docks area of Cardiff and one at a club called Zanadu at the opposite end of the town.
" As the word spreads, there's a whole reservoir of kids, a very varied bunch, who are prepared to join in.  We're very open to suggestions from the crowd, from people in bands, from theatre  groups;  we'll put anyone like that on at one of our evenings.  A couple of weeks ago people from the art college did a show that involved slides and backing tapes.
