Q: Bruce, thank You so much for taking the time for this interview with Me! I wanted to start off here by asking You about your new solo album, “Audio Dog”. I have been listening to some of the material and it sounds great. It’s truly Bruce Kulick in top form, and public reaction from the fans has been great. How have the rock critics reacted to the album? A: So far, excellent! The fans like it. I am pleased. Q: Did you play all of the instruments on the album or were there any other guest/session musicians? A: I played everything, but drums. Brent Fitz from UNION played drums, and of course Curt Cuomo helped co-produced the disc with me. Q: Is there a possibility of a solo tour coming up from You any time soon? A: I did a few shows in Australia, but no real plans for touring. I do some ESP guitar clinics and they are a good way to promote my disc. Q: You have been part of Grand Funk Railroad’s touring group for quite some time now and I know You have more dates scheduled this year as well. How have You enjoyed playing with Grand Funk and how has it differed from Your other musical experiences? A: Great guys, great music, and it is not very different except for the fact that we really get along well. Respect each other and are very professional. Q: You have also been extremely busy with guitar clinics and KISS conventions around the country and even all over the World in some cases. These are great settings for Your fans to get to enjoy a more intimate enviroment with you than a concert hall. How do you enjoy the clinics and conventions? A: They are a good way to get close to the fans, and promote what I am doing. Interesting people I meet this way for sure! Q: As popular as You are amongst all of your KISS fans at the conventions, do the Q&A sessions ever make you uneasy as far as the questions you get sometimes? I'm sure you probably get a lot of repetitive questions about certain members of the band, right? A: I know how to handle myself and things go pretty good all the time actually. Q: Although you have clearly moved on to very positive and creative projects since leaving KISS before their reunion tour, does any aspect of the way it ended with the band still irk You at all? KISS was clearly a far more rejuvenated and energetic band with Yourself and Eric Singer (and of course with Eric Carr) and most fans seem to be tired of the never ending farewell tour. A: I always expected them to do the reunion sometime, so it hurt, but I was not surprised. Gene and Paul handled it pretty cool with Eric and I, so I am grateful for that. Q: Do you mind me asking what your take was on Gene Simmons autobiography? A lot of people, myself included, feel that the book was disrespectful to any incarnation of KISS and there was very little reference to the post-original lineups. Have you read the book and what were your thoughts? A: I have only read some of it, and Gene likes to talk about what HE wants to talk about, so of course some fans will be disappointed. Maybe my book will fill in the gaps! (coming within a year) Q: Of course, you have your own book coming out December 12 of this year and I am hearing a great buzz about the book. It is being called the first true autobiography from a KISS member and really reveals some of the secrets about the behind-the-scenes happenings. What can we look forward to from your book and is the December 12 release date still solid? A: I hope, but lets be more realistic and say a year from now. Q: Bruce, again I want to thank You for your time and I just wanted to wrap up here by asking you what else you have in store for your fans in 2002? A: More dates with Grand Funk, (dont miss us!) and just watch my website for the news at www.kulick.net Thanks!! |
