JAKAL
Ja-Kal was the Royal Huntsman of Amenhotep, the
Pharaoh's chief falconer and captain of the royal hunts. The qualifications for his job
were simple -- he had to be brave enough to face a lion armed with only a spear, strong
enough to wrestle crocodiles, fast enough to run down a gazelle, agile enough to snare
birds on the wing, and obedient enough to jump into a muddy pond with an angry
hippopotamus when the pharaoh said "Jump"! Ja-Kal was born on the island of Yebu (present day Elphantine) hundreds of miles up the Nile, near Aswan, at the farthest reaches of Egypt. He is most at home in the wilderness, and happiest when roaming alone and free in the deserts, the mountains, or the marshes. He is always testing himself, constantly questioning whether he lives up to his ideal of what a man should be. His cool head in dangerous situations, and grasp of strategy and tactics, make him the best qualified of the Mummies to be in command. However, Ja-Kal doesn't have very good people skills. He angers quickly, is very demanding, and is sometimes insensitive to the feelings of the others. He is very uncomfortable with his duty as a teacher to young Rapses, despite his genuine affection for the boy. Now that Ja-Kal is, well, dead, he feels sympathy for all the animals he hunted for the pleasure of the pharaoh. He has vowed never to harm another animal, directing his hunting skills against a new prey: Scarab! Ja-Kal feels guilty over the young Rapses death by Scarab 3500 years ago. he feels that he failed to prove worthy of the trust the pharaoh put in him. The rebirth of Rapses spirit in Presley gives Ja-Kal a second chance to carry out the mission entrusted to him -- and this time he won't fail! |
WEAPONS
Ja-Kal is an expert with all the weapons of an Egyptian Huntsman -- spear, sling, bow and arrow, and net. Rath has equipped him with a variety of special arrows -- some that explode on impact, others that burst into flame, and some that carry sleep-inducing powder that bursts open when they hit their target.
Ja-Kal wears the head and armoured wings of the falcon-god Horus, which gives him the power of flight. He is able to glide through the air, find his prey, and swoop down to attack with his razor sharp claws and beak.
