Author's Note: This is my first attempt at fanfic so go easy on me if you hate it, **please**! Will be put in as installments. I want to thank Karin for giving me the idea and both Karin and Stef for all their help. Oh, please excuse all typos and punctuation errrors.
It is a usual day at the Darlin Headquarters. Karin and Tracy are arguing about Buck, Karin insisiting Buck is too hard on JD and Tracy trying to convince her Buck is just showing he cares for JD and that is why he is always so hard on him. Karin is still not convinced.
Stef walks in and breaks up the argument. "Girls, girls now we are suppose to be a team here, right?" She looks to both Karin and Tracy who both mumble "yeah, yeah."
All three laides look up as Leslie bounces into the room. "Now why all the long faces?"
"I am just sick of Buck being so hard on JD," Karin answers.
"Well, why don't we find a way to go cheer JD up," Leslie's face lights up.
"How are we suppose to do that?" Marla asks as she walks in the door. "I mean we can't go back in time you know."
"She's right." Stef answers with a sigh, "My poor JD."
"My?" Marla looks to Stef. "You mean our poor JD."
Just then a cold wind blows through the window causing a chill to go up the girl's spines. They look up to see Lori Anne standing in the doorway.
"I have found a way," she looks to the girls with no expression on her face whatsoever.
Tracy whispers to Karin, "Uh, she's, like, getting freaky on us again."
Karin shushes Tracy.
"Well, how, Lori Anne?" Stef questions her.
"I have found a portal that will take us right back to Four Corners, trust me," she looks to the girls.
"Porthole like on a ship?" Tracy looks to her.
"No, portal as in a gateway to go back in time," Lori Anne rolls her eyes.
"Ok, now she's freakin me out, too," Karin says to Tracy.
Leslie walks over to Lori Anne, "Where is this protal at and when can we go?"
"Only at the bewitching hour of midnight," Lori Anne answers. The girls all looked spooked now. "I'm just kidding, anytime I guess," she answers again.
Stef is still not totally convinced. "Just how did you come across this portal and how do you know it leads to 4C?" she asked, her eyebrows raise up.
"Alright, I found these outside that closet in the other room, I think with all this talk of 4C and JD that maybe we have somehow willed this to happen." Lori Anne holds up a bowler that looks exactly like the one JD wears and his boots. "I found them right inside the closet."
"Well it looks to me," Karin says as she grabs the boots away from Lori Anne, "that maybe someone or something does want us to go cheer up JD."
Stef can't even breathe Marla looks to her, "Now, Stef, you are our leader you must compose yourself."
"I know, I know I am just so excited, well ladies let's go," Stef says as she heads to the closet.
"Wait, we can't just waltz right into 4C," Karins says.
"She's right we need a plan and I think I have one," Leslie responds. "Gather up all the Darlins you can and meet me in the conference room."
The Darlins start to gather in the conference room all wondering what plan Leslie has up her sleeve. A lot sneak in unnoticed not saying anything until they know what is going on.
"Ok, ok most of us are here and Stef has filled us in. What's your plan, Leslie?" Jackie looks to her.
"Well," Leslie says as she bounces to the front of the room, "I say we literally go there and cheer JD up." She holds her pom poms in the air. "So who is with me?" She looks to the group. Stef, Jenny Lynn, Jenny P, Jackie, and Marla all walk up to the front of the room to join Leslie.
Sheela taps Tracy and Karin on their backs, "If you two go up so will I."
"Ok, as long as Tracy understands we are doing this for JD I'll join in." Karin looks to Tracy.
"Alright, alright," Tracy says as she joins the group with the others.
"Well, ok, then. Is that all?" Lelsie looks out to the group.
"Hold up," Linda hollars as she runs up to the front.
"Linda, where have you been?" Stef asks, "Oh, nevermind just glad you are here," she smiles to her.
The girls begin to practice the cheers while others look on. Lori Anne looks up from her Stephen King novel and laughs as the gals try to do the cheers Leslie is teaching them. Jeanette, Julie, Sharon, Jer, Karol and Jennifer S watch with amusement too.
Jeanette laughs, "I'll go but you won't catch me making a fool of myself in front of JD."
"Me either," Karol also known as "The Wise One" answers.
They all laugh as Tracy accidently hits Karin in the side with her pom poms and Karin wacks her back.
JD walks into the saloon without his hat and boots. Buck looks up from the table he's sitting at with Nathan and Vin.
"Well, boy looks like you finally got lucky last night," Buck says as he looks to JD's feet.
"Funny, Buck," JD says not amused at all.
Vin looks up, "JD, where are your hat and boots?"
"I was wondering that myself," JD looks to Buck questionally.
"Now boy I ain't got your hat and boots don't go blamming me for your troubles," Buck growls.
Nathan looks to JD, "Where did you have them last?"
"In my room last night, and no, Buck, no one else was in my room either."
Vin sits back and tries not to laugh. Vin looks at JD, "Well it looks like we have a mystery to solve here, fellas."
JD sits down and puts his head in his hands "Buck, you're right I have nothin but bad luck."
The Darlins continue to practice their cheers while others look on.
"Ah hell," Karin says, "I can't be no cheerleader."
"Yes, you can," Leslie says to her.
"Look we can't go to 4C dressed like cheerleaders we'll stick out like a sore thumb," Karin replies.
Marla looks to Karin, "You know ladies, she's right. We have to dress for that time period."
All the Darlins nod in agreement. Leslie looks to them, "Alright I'll eighthy-six the uniform but I insist in taking my pom poms and still doing the cheer. But how will we get clothes and stuff?"
The Wise One, also known as Karol walks up to the ladies, "Well, while you all were trying, oops, I mean practicing your cheers the rest of us went to the old costume warehouse and got some clothes."
While the others are discussing their new strategy Tracy feels a tap on her shoulder. "Hey, haven't I seen you over at the Babes headquarters?" the new girl Jennie asks.
"Yep, that's me, but shush don't let Karin know you're a Babe," Tracy looks to her. "She, well it's not that she hates Buck, she just, well, doesn't agree with his behavior. But I find the man, well, I find no faults with him whatsoever," she grins.
"Ok, its settled. We will all go dressed like women from that period and, hold on how we going to find JD?" Stef questions.
"Already thought of that," Karin comes in with a couple barking hound dogs. "I got JD's boots and well my hounds here will help us find our man."
"Dogs, oh my, dogs," Jer loks at them. "Don't like dogs at all."
"Me neither" Tracy adds.
"Well, we do want to go and find JD and fast, don't we?" Karin looks to them.
"She's right. I just can't wait any longer lets get dressed and go," Stef grabs up some clothes and they all hurry and change.
All the Darlins are gathered out side the closet, Karin starts handing leashes out. She hands Karol -Hank, Stef -Amos and she herself has Gator. Jer and Tracy stand back from the dogs.
"Hold on who's cooler?" Jackie asks as she goes down to open it and sees its full of Diet Pepsi. All eyes turn ot Karin.
"I have to have my caffenine ok, I'll hide it somehwhere no one will find it," she looks to them all and starts into the closet.
As they walk in Jennifer S looks down to see something shining in the light. "Oh my its JD's sheriff's star, look," she holds it up for all to see. Then she holds it to her, "Its mine, ok, I found it, you can't take it."
"It's ok, Jennifer, keep it," Jeanette pats her shoulder.
Tracy bends over and picks up a piece of paper with writing on it, it looks like a page form a journal. "Oh my gosh this is JD's, too."
"What's it say, Tracy?" Stef looks to her.
Tracy folds the paper, "Sorry, can't tell you, it's a secret," she grins.
"Ok, ok, enough let's just go now," Sheela looks to them.
They all slowly emerge into 4C.
JD gets up from the table "Well, fellas guess I go back to my room and look again." He gets up and walks out running right into Chris. "Oh, sorry Chris, wasn't paying attention."
"That's ok, JD, hey where's your hat and boots?" Chris looks to his feet grinning.
"Don't ask, ok," JD says as he heads back to his room.
"What was that all about?" Chris asks as he joins Vin, Buck and Nathan.
"Seems the boys lost them, Chris," Buck answers.
"Ah, he sould find them I bet, if he looks hard enough," Chris looks to them. They all nod in agreement.
JD walks back into his room and see his journal laying on his bed with a missing page. "What now this is getting to weird, someone is messing with me." He also notices that his sheriff's star is mising, too. "Ok this is enough. One of the guys is playing tricks on me and I aim to find out who it is." He leaves and heads back to the saloon.
JD walks back to the saloon, just realizing his rifle was missing too. "Now who why?" "Oh, I need to have a talk with the guys." He walks in and goes over to join Chris, Buck, Nathan and Vin all still sitting at the table. Ezra is over in the cornor playing cards with some gentleman.
Chris looks up, "Well, son, did you find your things? Guess not," he says as he looks to JD's feet. "Maybe you should go buy yourself another pair of boots. You can't walk around like that forever," he grins.
"He's right, JD, you need to go get some more boots at least," Nathan looks up to him.
"No, I know that you all are messing with me, now my rifle and sheriff's star are missing, too," JD folds his arm across his chest and looks right at Buck.
"Boy ,I told ya I have nothing to do with this," Buck says staring at JD.
"He's right, JD. Buck didn't take your stuff," Vin looks to him. "Buck has been with me in the saloon all morning long."
"Sorry Buck but geez I just wish I knew what was going on."
"That's ok, JD, I am sure we will find out who's behind this," Buck smiles to him.
As the Darlins are walking into 4C Stef picks up JD's rifle at the
edge of the closet. "Oh my look I have his rifle, hope he will be happy when
I return it to him."
Karin puts JD's boots in front of her hounds for them to sniff. "Find us our man," she says to them. The dogs take off woffing away.
"Karin, can you get your dogs to quiet down some people are starting to stare," Jenny P points to the onlookers.
"Well what do you expect a large group of women walking down the street with a couple of hound dogs," Marla adds.
"Yes, we are causing quite a scene but I don't care I just want to find my, I mean our, JD," Stef responds.
Without paying attention Jer walks right into a large man she looks up and sees it's Josiah. "Morning ladies," he looks to them all. "Is there something I can help you with?" All the laides just stand in awe and no one says anything at all for a few seconds until Jackie composes herself.
"Yes, we are looking for a Mr. JD Dunne, seems we found some things we think are his and we wish to return them," she looks back to the speechless Darlins and taps Lori Anne on the shoulder.
Lori Anne holds up JD's bowler, "Yes, I do believe this belongs to Mr. Dunne, and we didn't steal it I know that's what your thinking preacher man, but we did find them at the edge of town."
"Now I wasn't thinking that at all," he smiles to the nervous ladies. "I do believe JD is over in the saloon. Why don't I escort you ladies over there." He holds out his arms and quickly Sharon and Jeanette each grab a side. "Shall we," he smiles to all of them, "Oh and I'd leave the dogs outside." They all follow Josiah to the saloon.
At the saloon Ezra looks out the window "What in tarnations is that assembly of young ladies coming down the road with Josiah doing?" All the men get up and look out the window.
"Looks to me like they are headed right in our direction," JD grins. "Buck, recognize any of them? Maybe they are all women you have scorned?"
All the men laugh at JD's comment.
Buck reponds, "Lordy Lordy Lordy look at all them pretty gals, and no, JD, don't recall seeing any of them before but you can bet ole Buck will give them a warm welcome."
All the men take their seats as Josiah and the ladies file into the saloon. Josiah looks to JD "Well son it appears all these young ladies are looking for you."
The Darlins stand there speechless most with mouths dropped practically to the floor. "Breathe slow," Leslie is saying to Stef.
"You must be mistaken, Josiah," Buck looks to all the ladies, "all these pretty gals can't be here just for JD?" He grins to them.
Vin smiles to them all tips his hat, Chris says, "Afternoon ladies."
JD looks to them, "Why are you all here to see me?"
"Because just because," Sheela says as her Stef, Leslie, and Karol all rush JD at once.
"Wow," is all JD can say as each Darlin in the room introduces themselves. "We have read so much about you in these Dimestore novels and we are your biggest fans Mr. Dunne." Jennifer says as she hands the novels to JD.
"I am Karin and I found your boots, at least I think they are yours, right outside of town," she says as she places her hand on his face.
"Yeah they are mine thanks," he grins, unable to believe all these ladies are actually here to see him.
Lori Anne pulls Karin away from JD, "And I found you hat." She puts her arm around him and smiles to the other ladies.
Stef says. "Wait a minute. I have his rifle." She pushes Lori Anne to the side.
"Well I have his sherrif's star, too," Jennifer pushes her way back up to the front.
"Ladies ladies there are plenty of men to go around here," Buck smiles to them. Tracy and Jennie look up to him. "Well can I buy you two pretty ladies a drink?" They both nod still awestruck he takes each by their arm up to the bar.
Meanwhile JD is eating all the attention up as each Darlin takes their turn talking to him.
Chris looks to the men, "I agree with Buck this is too unreal."
They all nod.
"Can I interest any of you ladies in a game of chance?" Ezra looks to the crowd. "
Me oh me, yes me I'll play." Jenny Lynn practically knocks him over as she goes over to him.
"Well now we are eager aren't we?" He smiles to Jenny Lynn and leads her over to a table.
Buck, Jennie and Tracy are laughing and having a good time when they notice Karin walking their way. "Oh, no," Tracy looks to Jennie and points to Karin coming their way.
"Remember, ladies, who we are here for?" Karin looks to them. Both ladies nod but don't leave Buck's side.
"Now who is this pretty lady," he smiles to Karin.
"It's Karin and we are here for JD." She pries Jennie and Tracy away from Buck. Tracy looks back and winks at him and whispers "later."
"Heard that." Jennie looks to Tracy. Then she too looks back and winks at Buck too.
JD is eating up all the attention when he looks down at his finger.
"Something wrong, JD?" Stef asks.
"Uh, no, it's just my finger is sore Nathan had to take out a splinter yesterday and it still hurts some."
"**What**! You have a hurt finger!" Leslie hollars as she makes her way back over to JD. She takes his finger in her hand and looks at him and says
"Awwww, let me kiss the boo-boo." She starts kissing his finger.
