NUNN | ||||||||||||||||
NUNN Nunn had its beginnings in 1869 when the Denver and Pacific Railroad came through from Cheyenne to Evans. It was originally called Maynard Flats, for Captain Maynard who had a farm near Carr. Later it was renamed Nunn after Tom Nunn, a homesteader living southeast of the townsite near the railroad tracks. Tom Nunn had saved a train by flagging it down and stopping it. He had discovered a bridge on fire a few miles down the tracks. Tom lived in the area until he died in 1931. Today, Nunn still has a few residents and a post office still operates here. There are a few historic buildings that still stand at Nunn. A few examples are below. |
