While "Conservatives" Sleep |
|||||
The following article by Todd Brendan Fahey was received via e-mail a couple days ago. It mentions a couple governmental "surveillance" programs that I was totally unfamiliar with - so I did a bit of research to check them out. What I found chilled me! Most of my adult life was actually spent in a line of work similar to these - but I was working for the USAF, defending my country against foreign powers. The information in the following websites concerns our government and its capabilities to look into our lives in this country. Before you even look at the article by Mr. Fahey, I suggest looking at the following websites: |

Echelon Surveillance System http://www.aclu.org/echelonwatch/ Magic Lantern Computer Hacking/Surveillance System http://abcnews.go.com/sections/scitech/CuttingEdge/cuttingedge011221.html http://www.cnn.com/2001/TECH/internet/12/11/online.surveillance.idg/index.html Carnivore E-mail Surveillance System http://www.fbi.gov/programs/carnivore/carnivore.htm |

There is a lot more information through the web, but these sites seem to be the main ones dealing with these systems. One of them, the article on Echelon, kinda surprised me as to its source - I don't usually listen very much to the ACLU. I consider them to be one of the more subversive organizations in the USA, on a par with the Democratic National Party. However, in this case it's a good source of the information I wanted. Anyway, these systems are nothing less than very frightening to me as an American citizen. It would appear that the government can look in on us in any manner they wish and use whatever they find in the same manner. Now, take a look-see at the Fahey article, "While Conservatives Sleep". |
