The War Against Terrorism

The War Against Terrorism, the War On Terror, is the right thing to do.

Folks, it's just as simple as that.  Yeah, sure - I'm a retired veteran.  I'm also an American citizen, and a citizen of the world.  This country has a long and honorable history of helping the helpless, of bringing freedom to those who had none, of supporting honorable governments to achieve those ends.

This section of my little War Memorial is dedicated to my thoughts and justifications for conducting the War On Terror - for however long it might take.  Make no mistake, this is going to be nothing like a "quick" action - it's going to take years, probably generations to win it.

First, let's put a few things straight.  I have nothing against Muslims, or Islam in general.  I
DO have something against these criminals who hide behind a religion and pervert it to their own ends - the continuance of a "cave-man" way of life that should have died over a thousand years ago.  I DO have something against these "people" for changing the way of life of my country from one of freedom and liberty to one of fear and suspicions.  And, most of all, I DO have something against our own politicians who would lie and put their own interests ahead of this nation, something we're seeing more and more with every passing day.

Not everything in this section will be anti-terror, some of it will be anti-US-politicians.  Maybe that part should go into my
"Bumper Stickers" section, but it relates to the war effort - so it's here.

In the 5+ years that this series of wars has been going on I've kept silent on most of it.
No more! When it began we had a few allies, some of which I've always had suspicions that they were paid, in one form or another.  Only one nation has actually stood with us through all this - Britain - and it's looking more and more like even they will eventually pull out before the job's done.

For all that Britain has done so far, I thank them from the bottom of my heart.

Do you remember the beginnings of the War On Terrorism?  We went into Afghanistan and the Taliban issued many threats to us and our allies, to the effect that if we/they continued the war all the home countries would be subject to bombings and more terror?  Italy pulled out, as did Spain.  Russia has stood on the sidelines, blocking our way with every tactic they can think of.  And who has been bombed?  Who has had the most innocents killed by these "people"?  Italy, Spain and Russia.

They showed weakness, and they're paying for it.

The same thing happened more than 60 years ago across Europe.  The Nazi's threatened all, and all who showed weakness were overwhelmed and destroyed.  History is repeating itself.

This war isn't quite a standard war - that much is quite evident, even to the most ineducated people.  The reason for this is the basis of it - a perverted religion.  Those "insurgents" (read that "murderers") who fight this war are told by their priests that they're right in killing innocents.  They believe this, just as much as we believe they're wrong.  First we must beat them on the battlefield, but we must also beat them in their hearts and minds - and in that, we're falling far short.

What does the now-famous word "Jihad" really mean?  According to the Koran, it's the personal struggle to find God.  No problem.  The Bible also refers to the personal struggle to find God.  The difference is how the "church" portrays it - and their church is telling them to kill all who don't go along with their ways.  How can any religion stand by such a terrible thing?

What "Jihad" means to these killers is "Last Man Standing Wins".  It's as simple as that.  As long as there is just one of these people standing, the war will go on.  That's what the rest of the world doesn't understand, and probably will never understand.  This is a war for survival, and if we don't get smart very very fast, we're not going to survive.

Below are some of the items I've collected from others who feel as I do about this war.  You might find some of them interesting, educational, worth remembering.

I hope so.
