Contraception |
|||||||||||||
The Church is very clear in its teaching on contraception. Artificial means of birth control violate the sanctity of human sexuality in that it does not allow for the possibility of procreation and it limits the union between a husband and wife. Pope Paul VI once said, "There is an unbreakable connection between the unitive meaning and the procreative meaning, and both are inherent in the conjugal act. The connection was established by God, and man is not permitted to break it through his own volition." The Catholic (and proper) method of contraception is very simple - it's called "Natural Family Planning". What this boils down to, at bottom, is - abstinence. It's very simple, really. It's probably also the hardest part for humans to observe. It's always a case of where a family's priorities lie. Because abstinence from sex is sometimes difficult, many people consider the plan to be unreliable or strange. There's nothing unreliable about it - you don't want children, don't make any. And, what could possibly be strange about the only TRUE AND NATURAL method of birth control? That's it, folks! Simple and direct, there's no other alternative for followers of the faith. |
