Euthanasia |
|||||||
Euthanasia is defined as "an act of causing death painlessly, so as to end suffering." The direct taking of an innocent human life is a moral evil, regardless of the intention. Those who commit euthanasia intend to ease the suffering of a person, but in doing so, they are doing nothing but committing murder. Individuals who kill in the name of "mercy" believe the victim desires death. Such desire, even when spoken, cannot be trusted because terminally ill individuals and those suffering greatly often have their thinking clouded by their condition. More to the point; nobody may rightly choose to end his or her life. Life is a gift from God. It is the rightful teaching of the Church that life is to be respected from conception to natural death. That's the beginning and end of it; euthanasia is murder, murder is wrong - a sin - and morally unacceptable. End of argument! |
