Amigos Harmony The horse I loved A gift, and my treasure . |
||||||||
You were the wind beneath my wings. From the moment I first saw you, I knew you were special. You were young, green and full of spirit. You were everything that a little girl ever dreamed of. When you got sick and lost weight during our first winter together, I wasn't sure if you would ever be the same, but you came back to be the most beautiful creature, stronger and more spirited, and I knew I was lucky to be along for the ride. You and I formed a bond. We grew up together. Your soft nose, happy demeanor, and at times your attitude combined with fast gaits all enamored me. You were all heart, and you were mine. I was the luckiest girl on the planet. I will never forget the way you would run, with your tail high in the air and your neck arched, you were beauty and perfection. We enjoyed our games of chase, or when you would follow me into the front yard to graze without a halter and be content to just be with me. I would never forget in times of impatience, how you would bite my shoe when I was on your back, as to say, let's get a move on. You had a fascination with rubbing your nose through my hair; I loved it and every minute of the time I spent with you. When it came time for me to move away, I always came home to you. I could never take you away from your home because you were the queen there and home was your castle. As you aged, I could never make myself take you away from your home. I love you Amigos. I lost you today at 30 years of age. We had 25 together. As you grew older, I pampered you more. I put heat in the stable to try to help your arthritis, and gave you every amenity a horse could have. I loved how you greeted me after a long separation. There was something in the way your loved me and the way that I loved you. And I am so sorry I was not there to say goodbye. Please forgive me. In heaven, I hope you are running pain-free. I hope that you think of me and remember that I loved you, both as a little girl and as an adult. You were everything I ever dreamed that a horse could be. Please know that there is never going to be a day that I don't miss you or think of you. With all my heart, Julie . |
