What Is A Champion...? This is a story about people, not horses, but horses are in it. In fact, it's more about a lesson-learned for all of us. Read it and enjoy it ... and hope you're not guilty of it... or are you? . |

Hooves thunder down the backstretch, the lead horses pound away at the turf... Is this what makes a champion...? When you're asked to name a champion do you think of the great race horses of all time? Or still yet, do you think about the all-time show horses standing in the ring ... receiving their ribbons? . |
|||||||
The Quarter Horses The Thoroughbreds The Appy's The Paints The Morgans The list goes on and on... Or better yet, how about the Arabian Horse ... his name and bloodlines go so far back that only the hot desert wind blowing across the dunes of sand and time could tell you for sure about the Arab. So, does this make a champion...? . |

I have a champion, and so should you (but you already know that, don't you)? He's not famous, he will never run for the roses (fact is, he eats the roses). He will never stand in a winner's circle (except mine). He's not a great show horse, more of a clown in a horse suit actually. But more importantly, when I'm asked to name my champion, I only have to look across the stall door and see him standing there. I don't have to look for the great horses to find my champion; he's been standing in front of me all along. Soooo... if I ask you to name a champion, what comes to mind first? Did you remember your very own champion? Or did you think of another horse first? Did your forget about the one standing in his stall waiting for you? . |

Are you GUILTY of forgetting about your very own champion, when asked to name one? . |
