WEEK 0

Objectives:

• Students will get acquainted with:
  • the online facilitator,
  • the Yahoo Group.
• Students will:
  • create a personal profile page,
  • watch a video with their corresponding previewing and postviewing activities and,
  • write a journal entry.

Content:

1. Getting a Yahoo Identity.
2. Registering in the course in Yahoo Groups.
3. Setting up and managing their Yahoo Group account.
4. Creating a profile Yahoo page.
5. Watching a video about Modernism in Barcelona and completing the previewing and postviewing activities online.
6. Writing a journal entry, and posting it to the Yahoo Files section.

WEEK 1

Objective:

Students, individually, will write a descriptive paragraph about different elements of Valencia Modernist Architecture, after looking at pictures posted to the Photos section of the YG.

Content:

1. First groups formation.
2. Selection of pictures of different elements or details of VMA.
3. Individual written descriptions of VMA elements.

WEEK 2

Objective:

Students will write,individually, a summary paragraph about one building representing VMA.

Content:

Writing of individual summaries of Valencia Modernist buildings after reading descriptive texts about VM buildings.

WEEKS 3 and 4

Objective:

Students, in groups, will write a summary of the characteristics shared by all by all the buildings described individually by each of the groupmembers

Content:

Writing of collaborative summaries using the individual summaries written in week 2.

WEEK 5

Objectives:

1. Students, in groups, will write a final text with the characteristics shared by all the buildings presented to the class.
2. Individually, students will match pictures of buildings with a descriptive text.

Content:

1. New groups formation: numbered heads cooperative technique.
2. Group written summaries about the characteristics of VMA.

WEEK 6

Objectives:

Students will:

1. Complete evaluations forms.
2. Orally report conclusions.

Content:

1. Closure of unit.
2. f2f group oral presentation (audio-cassette recording).
3. Wimba recording.
4. Self, group work, and online unit evaluations.
