Eaglehawk
is a suburb on the Western side of the Greater City of Bendigo, in the Australian
State of Victoria. The town is on the
edge of the Great Dividing Range, where the foothills and iron-bark forests
give way to flat farming lands to the West. Eaglehawk is steeped in gold-mining
history. This is reflected in the club bannerette of an eagle perched
upon a 'poppet' head, this being the tower erected over the mine-shaft.
Many of these today are preserved and many can be seen in the area.
