As I don't have time to update this section any more, please take a look at my LiveJournal ... it is my "pensieve" (à la Harry Potter) =)

I'll update this entire page when I have time =) For now, I'm still drowning in the sea of higher knowledge. It is the final stretch before the end of Winter Term. And then of course Spring-Summer terms will begin *laughs* One good thing has come out of my Children's Lit course this term so far. I have found and adopted another motto: resurgam!!! It's from the dedication of one of Beatrix Potter's stories...that one about the Roly-Poly Pudding. Anyway, all the paragraphs below are a bit old...

Having graduated from St. Joseph's Morrow Park in Toronto, I'm now in second year Concurrent Education/Arts at Queen's University. Which means I'm doing two degrees at once - Honours BA and B.Ed. Last year I did my teaching practicum in a grade 5/6 class, and this year I hope to student-teach at my old high school. I'm planning on teaching high school English & Biology someday...yeah, I know...a martyr.

Born in Hong Kong, I persuaded my parents to immigrate to Canada just to see the snow.  So, in 1989, my family headed to Toronto.  Wanderlust's in my blood though...But so is daydreaming! I also live by the motto Otium sire litteris mors est (leisure without literature is death). Of course, my views have changed slightly from taking multiple English courses all at once, a reality that's going to stay for the duration of my university career.

I love to swim, ski, and play badminton. Still want to try hang-gliding and scuba diving!  I'm addicted to the internet and to adrenaline. Given the chance, I'd make my house a zoo (I've had rabbits, fish, turtles, crayfish and, right now, a pair of budgies).

I thrive in the light as well as in the dark. Only those who know me well know my darker side(s)... others still think I'm innocent and angelic ;-) And to those of you out there thinking, "So who are you, really?" I'm nobody. Who are you? Are you nobody too? =) I can play the violin, cello, and harmonica, but piano's a huge part of my life. Songs I've played and screwed up for my ARCT performer's exam last August:

                Khatchaturian: Toccata (midi)
                Schumann: Finale from Faschingsschwank aus Wien, op.26 (webpg link - much thanks to Iyasu!)
                Chopin:  Etude (Ocean), op.25, #12, c- (midi file)
                Bach: Prelude & Fugue, no.3, in C# (midi file)
                Mozart:  Sonata, no.11, in A, k.331 (midi file)
                Debussy: Ballade (midi)

I know English, French (50% maybe??), and Cantonese (and some Mandarin), but I want to learn Latin and Esperanto! Impractical as always.  I'm still thinking of joining Mensa as soon as I have the time to apply =) Hmm...I know I still haven't updated this page much, so I'll add two more lists:

Fav Musicians: DCD, Delerium, Enya, Bon Jovi, Deine Lakaien, And Also the Trees, Sacred Spirit, Deep Forest, Enigma, BSB, Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Wim Mertens, Bella Morte, Death in June, Wolfsheim, Cusco, SClub7, Beatles, Belle & Sebastian, Simon & Garfunkel, Nik Kershaw, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil, Peter Gabriel, The Cure, ERA, Billy Joel, AtB, Loreena McKinnett, Vangelis, Westlife, Kabah, Boyzone, Tears for Fears, Elbosco, Ronan Hardiman, Prozzäk, The Corrs, MLTR, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Megaherz, Rammstein, Kitaro,...

Fav Authors: JRR Tolkien, Monica Hughes, Rudyard Kipling, Shakespeare, Robertson Davies, Antoine de Saint Exupéry, Jerzy Kosinski, Agatha Christie,...oh, and can't leave out HP's JK Rowling ;-)

Nuff said. If you've read up to this point, thanks! =P  And, should you question the truthfulness of this 'About Me' thing, this could mean:

          a) you know me, but not well enough
          b) you don't know me

                                                                                     Pax vobiscum,
                                                                                     Emily =)
