New York Fashion Week is a time for designer’s young and old to show their wears.  People from all over the world come to see what the Big Apple bites for the new season.  Since many of my friends were involved in the shows this season, we can see firsthand  life stepping on to the catwalk again. I was personally invited to one show that I was particularly excited about this season. Zaldy’s collection for fall 2005 was my the first show that I have ever seen in America. Having attended fashion week in Paris with my friend Odette Bombarder,  this was my first New York fashion week show. I was able to see the entire process of how a show comes together before the public arrives. Mathu Anderson & Danillo were doing the hair and makeup. An innocent but mystic look with smoky eye and simple messy bun.
Zaldy’s collection was whimsical in lovely gold , navy blue & earth tones colors with black  leaves and haunting flowers, ribbon & ruffles, playing with unusual cut’s that looked comfortable and easy.
When the public arrives it becomes a fashion spectacle within itself as the fashion crowd clamor’s  for seating. Some are accompanied by their well behaved children. Susanne Bartsch being the  most exciting mommy in the room decked in Zaldy and looking really great. It is Mathu & Zaldy who  are responsible for creating Susanne Bartsch’ looks for many years. Susanne is very dedicated to the duo as she always mentions them in interviews. This was a very grown up show that didn’t forget.
It’s past but knows its future. And from what I understand Zaldy will be collaberating with Gwen Stefani  on her up & coming collection. Also during this fashion week was the first show for Boy George’s collection B-Rude. Super Makeup Artist Marla Belt got to work with key artist Christine Bateman on this wild & campy show. Miss Marla also got to work with makeup artist Kabouki Starshine on the colorful Heatherette show. Young designer’s Lui Antinous & Dres collaborated on a fun outrageous show perfect for club land’s freak scene. The show resembled those crazy catwalks of the past but tweaked for today. What would fashion be without youth! Congratulations to all!
