GG Allin was the first person I tried to get in touch with when I decided to put together this record. Everything I had read about him said This guy is BAD, in the best sense of the word. I already had a copy of his album ALWAYS WAS, IS AND ALWAYS SHALL BE. Almost every song on it is offensive. I had seen bad reviews in fanzines from New York to California. TRIBAL NOISE summarized the general opinion of GG: A real asshole with a capitol A.
I wrote to his record company, Orange Records, but got no answer. I tried to find his phone number up there in the wilds of New Hampshire, but everyone pretended that he didn't exist. Just as I was about to give up, I got a letter from the man himself. What luck!
GG has been banned from most of the clubs in new England. A local New England paper tells what typically happens when he plays:
GG Allin had to be removed from the stage at THE FROLLICS in Salsbury by members of the Salsbury police. GG who at the time was squirming around on some broken glass on stage says, 'The show was just getting started'.
BOSTON ROCK tells of another concert: GG was a horror show. His face went blank, his mouth hung agape...if he got near the crowd they pushed him, spit on him, dragged him around like a piece of meat.
Not since Iggy Pop (with the possible exception of Stiv Bators when he was in the Dead Boys) has anyone engendered so much physical hostility in an audience.
GG, being from New England, doesn't get nearly the exposure he deserves. TAKE IT magazine has is pinned down: It's very offensive and if GG was from LA or England you'd think he was real cool.
GG's two songs on this LP are A FUCK UP and NO RULES. You can write to him at PO Box 54, Hookset NH 03106.
The band is: GG Allin, vocals; Alan Chapple, Bass; Stephen Spinard and Steve Lessard, guitar and drums.
