MILWAUKEE - A rock singer who defecated on stage and tossed feces at the audience was convicted of disorderly conduct after a jury rejected the argument that he was exercising artistic freedom.
Kevin M. Allin, 34, known as G.G. Allin, was lead singer of the defunct group Toilet Rockers. As a result of Thursday's verdict, he could be sentenced to 90 days in jail and fined $1,000. Sentencing is Sept. 13.
Defense lawyer Peter Goldberg said he would appeal the verdict in the four-day trail in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
In November 1989, Allin pleaded no contest to a felonious assault charge in the burning and beating of a woman in her Ann Arbor apartment. He was sentenced to prison and was on parole at the time of the Milwaukee incident.
In an impromptu news conference Thursday, Allin called the Milwaukee jury narrow-minded.
"They're trying to kill rock 'n' roll, but the can't do it because I'm the king of the underground rock 'n' roll," he said.
