IDAHO STATE SONG
You've heard of the wonders our land does possess,
It's beautiful valleys and hills,
The majestic forests where nature abounds,
We love every nook and rill.

chorus
And here we have Idaho
Winning her way to fame.
Silver and gold in the sunlight blaze,
and romance lies in her name.
Singing, we're singing of you,
Ah, proudly too,
All our lives thru, we'll go
Singing, singing of you,
Singing of Idaho.
chorus
There's truly one state in this great land of ours
Where ideals can be realized.
The pioneers made it so for you and me,
A legacy we'll always prize.

chorus
And here we have Idaho
Winning her way to fame.
Silver and gold in the sunlight blaze,
and romance lies in her name.
Singing, we're singing of you,
Ah, proudly too,
All our lives thru, we'll go
Singing, singing of you,
Singing of Idaho.

Idaho has long been known as the potato state, and some of the world's best russets are grown here. Unfortunately, this potato connection has somehow given travelers a distorted idea of what Idaho has to offer. This has led to Idaho being overlooked by some vacationers. However, Idaho is far from being just a potato farm, it a land filled with dreams and wonder. Where else can visitors walk the streets of Moscow and Paris or climb amongst the craters of the moon, all while staying within the parameters of the vacation budget (not to mention the earth's atmosphere)?
Idaho has two distinctive sections: Northern Idaho and Southern Idaho. Both are equally as beautiful and exciting, but each offers a different type of landscape.
Northern Idaho, called the Idaho panhandle, is covered with giant mountain ranges as well as vast river systems and lakes. Hiking, fishing and boating rein supreme in this area of the state. The fertile soils found in this section of Idaho have created a distinctive flavored grape, which has given rise to the wine industry. The Idaho panhandle is dotted with vineyards and wineries that rival Napa Valley. The Idaho wine tour offers all of the flavor of the more popular California tours, but with fewer people and a more beautiful backdrop. Some of the most spectacular National Forests are in or near the Idaho panhandle, including Clearwater, Coeur D' Alene and Kaniksu, which spills over into Canada.
Southern Idaho has a mixture of mountains and plains. This combination provides visitors to Idaho an array of activities. Craters of the Moon National Monument, an area covered with volcanic remains, is found in Southern Idaho. Visitors can climb in and around what seems to be a land from outer space, and kids love it! Other areas of interest include Idaho's Snake River Gorge. In May of 1974, stunt driver, Evil Knievel made an unsuccessful attempt to jump the gorge on a motorcycle, which almost cost him his life. Many less daring people choose to tackle this famous gorge and its mighty river by boat. This area of Idaho is also covered with wondrous waterfalls. These spectacular waterfalls are usually found near cities with waterfall names, such as Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks are just a stones throw over the Idaho/Wyoming border.
Although most people associate great skiing with Utah and Colorado, Idaho should not be left out of the mix. There are 16 ski resorts found in Idaho including Sun Valley and Grand Targhee. Ski and Snowboard Resorts are plentiful in both Southern and Northern Idaho. People who have skied and snowboarded the Idaho slopes say that the snow is as good as it gets; and long lift lines, well that just doesn't seem to be a problem in Idaho.

IDAHO
Away beyond the hills of Idaho
Where yawning canyons greet the sun
As it smiles above the trees in Idaho
To say another night is done.

Warm summer winds toss the waving grain
Calling me back to my home again
To dream sweet memories of long ago
Beyond the hills of Idaho

The rolling hills of northern Idaho
Will always be a part of me
Like native steelheads swimming from the sea
Idaho is calling me

Cool mountain breezes kiss the snowy peaks
Drawing me back, I hear the mountains speak
You may love and dream wherever you may go
But your heart belongs to Idaho
Yes, your heart belongs to Idaho!
